Terrible experience! As if planning a wedding is not stressful enough, it took them 3 months to send us a final quote. Due to the delays we had to move our wedding date and venue. We initially wanted the princess package and I called and discussed it with the owner. My mother to be in law drove all the way to the venue for us and made it very clear exactly what our expectations were. Since my fiancé lives in Dubai and myself in Cape Town, arranging the wedding was already very stressful. After 1 month, the owner decided we do not qualify for the princess package any longer and also decided to move our wedding date for us. This already raised red flags but we tried to move our stuff around for them! What great service from our side... The inconsistent replies from owner and manager continued for another month and finally we flew in to go see the venue, I was extremely skeptical but my fiancé still thought speaking to them face to face would change things. We loved the venue and just wanted better communication and explained to Sonette we are not happy to be ignored for a week and expect reasonable feedback. I really hoped things would change and initially it did, but it was short lived... 1 month later, we were now standing on 3 months still waiting for a final quote and things just kept dragging on. I finally pulled the plug and told my fiancé we have now ran out of time. Our international quests could no longer attend the wedding on short notice. It was our mistake to place all of our faith in the owner and staff of castle de wildt to get things done. They failed us and this cost us to delay our wedding for another 6 months. When we voiced we were finally done waiting for communication, Sonette jumped and quickly sent us a quote. Unfortunately after waiting 4 weeks for 1 picture of a table decoration option, we were done with castle de wildt. It is clear the owner Anneh wants to have the last say over anything and that would have been fine if she was ever available, but that is not the case. She is hardly ever available and makes it impossible for the manager to effectively operate and make decisions that impact the client, the result of that is the manager never has an answer for the client because Owner is never available. The business model is a recipe for a disaster. It is clear the manager is overworked and cannot run a restaurant, accommodation and a wedding venue at the same time. You over milk the cow, you get blood...
Read moreAs an internation traveller I am beyond disappointed. The facility is beautiful and has potential. However, I will never go there again. We went to the restaurant for lunch. The milk was not fresh (box milk) and the cappuccino was barely passible. We ordered salmon salad and proceeded to wait. The staff brought condiments, that were dirty and the outside covered in old sauce. We asked for it to be replaced, which the staff did. After waiting for some time the staff told us we would have to wait for a bigger table's order to be delivered before our order would be made. So we continued to wait, only to find, as our food arrived, that the table where we were seated was covered in cobwebs and spiders. The staff offered to move us to a new table, which was also covered in cobwebs and spiders. Finally we found a spider free table, hoping that we could now have our meal... What a horrifying experience...The lettuce was slimy and past it's sell-by date, the cream cheese was off and there were rotten olives in the salad. We informed our waiter, who apologized, we paid and left. There was no attempt to rectify the situation or even reduce the bill. I do not blame the waiting staff, as this is a quality issue that comes from management and the kitchen staff. This is not how you treat your customers. I recommend avoiding this place as the service is poor and the quality of food a health hazzard and...
Read moreOur company booked a conference at Castle De Wildt and we were so disappointed. We made our booking for 03 November 2023, to have breakfast served at 08:00 am whereafter we would start our meeting, upon arrival there was nobody there to meet us. The staff arrived at 07:45 am, after which we still had to wait a while for our conference room, which was confirmed with Sonet the day before, to have a coffee station and projector in the room for us. The staff quickly cleared out a room in the foyer for us and told us that the projector is being used by a different company also in conference at the location. Our breakfast was served at 09:30 am, during which Sonet confirmed that we will not be having lunch. I was confused and said that I spoke to HER (Sonet) the day before and confirmed all our requirements which were not met, only then she recalled our conversation, after I pointed out that I have spoken to HER (Sonet) directly the day before. Despite weeks of e-mails and calls to Aneh and Sonet to set up our conference and multiple confirmations about our requirements, the day of the conference was absolute chaos with them being unprepared. I would most definitely NOT RECOMMEND using their facilities, nor will I book...
