Madikela Game Lodge - Nightjar house - 21 - 23 March 2024, Family of 5 We are use to the outdoors and the bushveld as we hunt on a very regular basis, but I have never arrived at any accomodation in the bushveld and felt I would rather get back in my car and go look for different accomodation, and that was unfortunatlly the case when we arived at Madikela Game Lodge on Thursday afternoon. The accomodation is in desperate need of attention and upgrade. The plates, bowls and utensils were dirty inside the cupboard and drawer. And by dirty I mean dirty...sticky. We had to unpack everything and wash it before we could use anything, spatula still had old egg on!!! I even had to wash the kettle which I took out of the cupboard because it was filthy dirty on the outside, old fat sticking to if all over. The pots and pans were dirty and we had to wash everything before use. There is a layer of dust on top of the microwave..dont think it saw a wet cloth in many months. The floors were full of dust and we had to sweep the whole house. Dust, and not new dust, months of dust has accumulated under the beds and behind the doors. The beds and matresses are in a terrible condition. Bedding is old and not sure if it were even washed before we arrived. The only highlight was the small heated jaccuzi and the thatch dek area. The big swimming pool was nice, but the bathrooms at this area is terrible. The games room and put put is very run down. Sorry to say but I would not recommend...

We spent our 10th anniversary weekend at Madikela Game Farm, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the warm and welcoming reception from all the staff made us feel right at home.
We stayed in the Sandstone Chalet, which offered complete privacy â a peaceful haven surrounded by nature. The chalet was immaculately clean, neat, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
The hot tub on the veranda was the highlight of our weekend! Sitting in the warm water, sipping champagne by the glow of the fire, while watching the stars and listening to the sounds of nature â absolute bliss.
We also enjoyed a self-drive game experience around the farm, spotting giraffes, impalas, kudus, blue wildebeest, a vine snake, and zebras. Stopping at the dam to feed the fish and watch the ducks was a simple but special moment that added to the charm of the trip.
We thoroughly enjoyed every moment and will definitely return for our next breakaway. Thank you, Madikela, for making our anniversary so memorable â you were truly...
Read moreOur stay at Madikela Game Lodge was absolutely wonderful! The lodge offered an excellent balance of value and experience, making it a perfect getaway. From the peaceful surroundings and the facilities, everything was designed to help guests relax and connect with nature.
We loved the hiking trails and the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the outdoors. One of the highlights of our trip was that we could bring our dogs along. It was such a joy to see them exploring the trails, running freely, and enjoying the fresh air just as much as we did. This pet-friendly policy made our stay even more memorable!
During our visit, there was one power outage, but since we always travel with backup lamps, it didnât affect us much. However, it might be something for the lodge to consider improving in the future.
Overall, our time at Madikela was incredible. Weâre already looking forward to returning and will happily recommend it to anyone looking for a tranquil retreatâespecially those who want to include their furry friends in...
