I an very disappointed on how we got treatment at the dam, worse by people who are not even working at that place. We wanted to book a campsite like we'd normally do, we even called months before we went to the dam. The reason why we book a special campsite, is simply because of we have to setup an accommodation and prepare food for our clients who normally attend the vinyl camp. On arrival at the gate, the vinyl camp hosts forced us to pay R650 regardless we told them that we were not for their event instead we came to render a service for our clients, which was also their clients. To make matters even worse that they were bullying us, there were white people just behind us and they also went there to book a campsite but they were not subjected to pay those R650, they were instantly allowed to enter the campsite. In order to resolve this situation, kindly put account numbers in place so that we can do an online booking or put service providers such as Booking.com or SAvenue to assist us with bookings because come tomorrow, should we end up exchanging words with those people who think that that dam is theirs, it wont end well.
We even called the guys whose numbers are provided on the website but they were afraid of that lady who was giving us a stinking attitude, she is not working for Doorndraai Dam. Please do something about this before...
Read moreI'm not stingy with my stars, but the only two stars I can give here is for friendly staff and a SPECTACULAR, LOVELY camp terrain. This campsite has so much potential, but even though there were electricity breakers and sockets for caravan electricity built into the side of the DB boards, MANAGEMENT COULDN'T CARE LESS TO CHECK IF THEY'RE WORKING FOR EASTER WEEKEND. Even MORE APPALLING was the state of abblution blocks like KIERIEKLAPPER and smaller toilets nearby. NON FLUSHABLE and DISGUSTING!!
KUDO"S TO THE CLEANERS WHO ARE TRYING TO DO THEIR JOB, they were onsite doing what they do best, I saw them and they were quite cheerful, but unfortunately they can't help it if the toilets they clean don't work!
Management should be ashamed of themselves. The terrain literally takes the horses (management) to the water, but they refuse to "drink"! Instead of turning this rough diamond the size of a mountain into a money making factory, they prefer to kick dust over it because they're too damn lazy to maintain BASIC SERVICES!!-Pull your fingers out of your butt holes and prove me wrong. Get the abblutions in TOP WORKING shape and check that the electricity points work.
We will come back to Doorndraai and PLEASE make me give you 5 stars...
Read moreJust spent the long weekend there. What a beautiful piece of nature but spoilt by poor maintenance all over. The rubbish collection points (cages) are dilapidated and the monkeys and baboons have a lot of fun raiding and spreading rubbish all over the resort! The bathroom block at Sering camp has the potential to be superb, but the lack of maintenance causes this block to be a health risk and basically unusable. Also it seems that the facility is too small to handle the pressure from visitors. People now use the veld where they can. Who ever is responsible for the management of the facilities at Doorndraai should be replaced by a competent person. Apparently it is the same for all the ablution facilities including the private camp. It is really a sad situation. There should also be a separate motor-boat/jet-ski area to the angling area. The area closer to the dam wall is not frequented by anglers and well be well suited for motor boat enthusiast. I really hope somebody with Limpopo government adresses...
