Wow! Amazing experience. We stayed at the Wilderness tented camp for 3 nights. We fortunately were the only guests at those 3 days. We arrived and were greeted by a very friendly staff with refreshing hand towels, welcome drinks and introduction to the whole place. The tents have a luxurious feel and beautiful en suite outdoor bathroom with open air shower and a big bathtub. The toilet is placed a bit low from the ground which was a little funny to use). The AC in the tents were very welcomed in the heat and worked nicely. (A bit loud but that didnt bother us). The tents are all on a little hill, so from all the tents you have an amazing view onto the reserve from high up. Our tents were facing the beautiful orange african sunset which was just amazing! ||We booked breakfast and dinner included. We had a nice private setting on the deck and bar area, and always a menu of 3 different meals to choose which changed a very day. (Dinner was always a starter, main and dessert) The chef was EXCELLENT! We could really feel his passion for food in his meals. He planned and created the meals himself and it was such a joy to eat his food. Every evening the dinner setting changed a littlebit, with our last night in the boma. The camp is not fenced and is inside a private game reserve, so on this night just next to the parking lot there was a lioness sitting in the bush who had killed and was feeding on a wild roaming antilope she caught. Very cool! ||This place truly is a hidden gem! We will return one day! ||Thank you to all the lovely staff who made our stay...
Read moreMapesu Wilderness Camp was the best getaway that my husband and I have had in a long time. The scenery in the area is absolutely breath taking.
The view from the tents is of a sprawling green landscape of Mopane trees and uninterrupted horizons.
The lovely tents are air-conditioned and more than comfortable. There is a big swimming pool with an amazing entertainment area, complete with a fire pit and outdoor pizza oven.
We ate our breakfasts and dinners at the Mopane Bush Lodge which is also a lovely Lodge. The food was really very good. Simple but incredibly well prepared and tasty. The service staff at the lodge were outstanding! So much more than just polite. They cared that we were having a good time and freely made conversation. We were very impressed with them.
Then on to the stars of the show, Anna our guide and Gustav the manager. Gustav did his utmost to meet our every request and need. He was friendly and willing. Anna, was a pleasure to spend time with. She is quick to impart her extensive knowledge with her guests and had a wonderfully enthusiastic, can do attitude. She went out of her way to ensure everything we did was a memorable experience.
We will be back to this special...
Read moreWe were greeted with excellent service, and the check in was smooth at Wilderness Camp||The game drives were amazing, especially the history of Kaoxa as well as Mapungubwe. ||Our Tents were spacious, clean and the beds are extremely comfortable, not even to talk about the beautiful outside bathroom. ||The staff is amazing, we were greeted by the housekeeping lady on our way to our room the one afternoon, she was so nice and always had a smile on her face and greeted us when ever she saw us. The food is outstanding, the chefs really know what they are doing. All our meals were delicious and out of the 8 lodges we visited the food at Wilderness was the best. My husband agrees with me on this one. ||The management, Andre and Quintin was helpful and they are great at what they are doing, born to host, and born for the industry! They made us feel at home immediately and throughout our stay. ||Carel, our waiter was excellent. ||We cannot fault Wilderness Camp, other than the evenings were a bit cold, and the dining area is open. Also, one morning the guide decided not to prepare coffee for us as he was a bit late and we had to leave on the drive. ||Thank you, we will most definitely return to...
