Hi fellow campers, we used this gate to enter the Kruger National Park on the 2nd August 2025 for a 15 day tour from the North to the South (Punda Marie right down to Berg en Dal with 4 camps in between). The road to Pafuri Gate is ok, with only parts that are uneven, however the domestic animals are far more dangerous than the road. Otherwise it's ok to travel on with a caravan in tow.

Stunning part of the KNP. What a delight to checkin. Friendly, helpful and enthusiastic staff. Paperwork at the ready, next step/stage talked and walked throughout into the park with a smile…unlike other gates! Unique vegetation and wildlife, a birders paradise. Amazing picnic site. The first stretch of road in disrepair- alot of work on potholes makes for a rather bumpy ride.

Pafuri.....what can I say, this is the most stunning entrance to Kruger Park...the area the views drive to one of the most beautiful places in Kruger... Crooks corner..... take some photos...then drive to the picnic spot, have a breakfast there, with more pictures enjoy the tranquility......then slowly drive to Punda Maria for a sleepover or two.

The most northern entrance of Kruger National Park, if you came down from Musina and would like to visit the Kruger National Park, this will be the closest gate from the top. Upon entry you need to pay an entrance fee, from there on you can make your drive all the way down south, on the way you can see elephants by the water holes and also buffalos. If you went further south you will start seeing more green as the northern part of Kruger is very dry. If you are not planning to stay inside Kruger, you will need to make your way to the western exits as it will take 6-7 hours to drive all the way south with a speed...

This camp must be closed to travellers through the reserve to Mozambique as soon as possible. These travellers are always speeding and have NO regard for visitors to the Kruger National Park, as well as animals in the reserve. They are generally aggressive and discourteous. We had numerous experiences of this on a recent visit to this part of the park over the Christmas holidays. I can’t believe that international visitors would find this safe or worthwhile. The security official at the gate was extremely prompt and helpful toward us. This was in stark contrast to hordes racing through to the Mozambique...
