Lovely momument about some of the history of the 1820 Settlers. The monument is dedicated to them and the various plaques detail where families set up

It can deceiving as it doesn't look impressive from afar, but once you enter you are greeted with awesome views of the hills ahead

I was the only one there when I visited it. Unfortunately, quite underdeveloped in my opinion as it could benefit from information placards that give you a run down of the area and the monument. There is some basic information, but I think it could be expanded upon

I was also worry about vandalism as it's just open access. It could do with some TLC...

The Toposcope is a heritage site commemorating the 1820 settlers and their descendants. It is located on a particularly scenic hill with many landscape views. Plaques reflecting the names and ships of the parties arriving in the Eastern Cape in 1820 appear around the Toposcope. The plaques create a compass direction indicating the location of the various settler parties. As a tourist attraction this monument and others in Bathurst are the lifeblood of tourism driven job creation in the area. What an amazing view. Fresh air. So relaxing being on top of the world. Don't miss it when passing...

An interesting part of history. Beautiful scenery from here. Nice and peacefull atmosphere. Not a lot of parking space. No ablutions, braai facilities or picnic spots available. Difficult area for disabled people and persons in wheelchairs.
