Very sad to see what this game park has become compared to when it first started...the entire park is now just a residential estate. Everywhere you look there are houses and buildings. It feels like you're in a townhouse complex, not a game park. Cheetah enclosure is gone because all the cheetah died, and instead of getting more, all the parks funds seem to go into building more houses for people to live in. Shocking. More focused on turning the park into an estate than improving it as a game park. Hardly any wildlife sightings, then again this will be the case since the whole reserve is just houses. Saw more people than animals. How is it pleasant to view animals when the background is houses and the sounds of the bush are dwarfed by the sounds of people partying in their back yards. Shocking. The amount if invasive plant species is also ridiculous. Roads are also terrible. Pretty sure there are no lions either. Much better to go to Addo. Kragga Kamma should just give their animals to other actual game reserves and just be a townhouse complex since that's what...
Read moreI was hoping to see rhinos or giraffes on my own and therefore chose the self-drive option in the park. According to the description, the roads were supposed to be well-maintained and suitable for regular vehicles. However, this does not reflect the reality at all.
The tracks are in such condition that driving without an SUV or 4x4 is problematic – especially due to the low ground clearance of standard cars. If it rains, some parts could even become dangerous. In my opinion, the phrase “well-maintained roads” is highly exaggerated and misleading, especially for rental car drivers.
I immediately aborted the drive and exited the park again – I didn’t see any animals, but I didn’t mind. My car is more important to me. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I would only recommend the self-drive if you have a proper off-road vehicle.
That said, I want to mention that the young man at the gate was very kind, friendly,...

We were worried about how a hatchback would fare and asked at the gate whether the car would be suitable for the self-drive. We were told that the roads were easy gravel, and the hatchback would be fine. In reality, unkempt, uneven and non-gravel roads all over the park. The road is mostly made of sand, often with overturned bricks thrown in, creating sharp obstructions for the undercarriage. Additionally, the sand makes it possible for you to get stuck easily. Absolutely possible with a 4×4, might have changed the experience entirely.
The map given (and Google's version) of the park is completely inaccurate. Signage is poor and there is no way to gauge the length of each route, because the map shows it to be a lot shorter.
The animals are beautiful and easily spotted initially, but once you go deep into the park, it's a lot of...
