We booked a 1.5hr quad bike trip. At the beginning there was no safety briefing other than donning helmets. One of us had never driven a quad before so was then given a semi auto (no clutch but left in 2nd gear) quad. The bikes looked nothing like the ones on their website and way overdue for a full service. Straight from the beginning we had problems with engines not starting, the semi-auto kept stalling, and lots of blue exhaust fumes which made the convoy trip unpleasant. Around half way the guide had to take the semi auto back to camp and fetch another. While waiting about 20 black children came begging us for our food and drink and didn't leave us alone for the rest of the Trip. The 2nd half was extreme terrain and definitely not for beginner drivers!! Half of us had to get off our quads and walk up each leg while the guide drove each bike up as it was too steep and dangerous.
Apart from the advanced drivers course, badly kept bikes, and begging children with no concept of personal space - the trip produced amazing views of the Drakensberg and...
Read moreQuad bikes are in very poor quality and look as though they have had little to no maintenance since they were purchased which makes for a very unsafe ride. The website advertises them as automatic - which they are not, they have just removed the clutch, the guides tell you to not worry about the gears and to keep it in second gear all the way - again very unsafe especially when you are going down steep hills. The brakes barely work - and the guides tell you you need to use both brakes at all times, even so it slows down the bike very slowly (because you are still stuck in second gear.) The steering is very difficult which further adds to the general unsafe feeling of the quads. The quads don't even switch on using the key and the guide has to jump start them using a R5 coin. I personally would never go back to FourRivers and would not recommend, I will next time go to one of the many other adventure parks in the area that appear to be better run and maintained. Very expensive considering there is no maintenance...
Read moreGreat place if you bring your own bikes. It is then inexpensive to ride and you can ask for a multiday pass. The owner is friendly, as are the staff. The bike trails are fairly long and varied so you can go on a 2 hour ride without being bored. Guides are also offered and you dont need expetience. Other activities include zip line and archery. I have never had any luck with archery anywhere so I cant say whether I suck at it or the equipment is rubbish. I am inclined towards the latter of course. The road to the centre is very dusty and a bit rocky although I see many sports cars get here fine if driven slowly. I always get a multiday pass every year I here. Good place for a family. The river is too cold to...
