I have to say that we weren’t that impressed by this cave but we feel it might be because we have seen many caves all over the world. The history is probably the most interesting part as archaeologists have dated items back you the Later Stone Age. They show pictures to depict what it might have looked like.

If you are not fit enough to walk on uneven stairs and rocks then be careful. We were with an older couple who were quite uncomfortable and uneasy. They said they would not have done this small hike had they understand the effort.

It’s quite a few stairs down and then you walk on rocks until you get to the cave. There is a yellow rope to denote the path but do not hold on to this as some tried to do.

Do not wear flip flops. Where tennis shoes with a grip.

It was very hot when we went down so bring water, sunscreen and wear a hat.

There is a small beach at the...

Really nice experience. Took my 12 year old son who really enjoyed it. Was a R60 adult and R40 kids entrance fee at main gate driving into the reserve area. Easy walk from parking area at the top down the wooden stairway to bottom. And then you walk a short distance over some flat rocks and boulders to the main cave entrance.

We kept going beyond the first cave to a smaller 2nd cave which requires more climbing up the cliff area and rocks and that part is probably not suited for smaller kids. But you can just walk up to main cave with kids which is fine and a nice experience.

There's also a nice beach area before you get to the bottom of the stairs from parking area, and se people did make use of that to see and spend some time together...

Interesting to visit but not a lot to see. Wonderful nature. Dubious historical value and nothing really to see of ancient habitation.

Definitely not worth the price of admission.

Derelict condition especially down by the caves. Like the rest of the country, nothing that is government run is maintained. This site, like everywhere else, is just milked for ANC funds.

I would recommend taking the walking trail out of Gansbaai to make the whole experience worth the visit. Enjoy the nature. See the rock arches, cliffs and wild sea. Visit the caves and then walk back.

Bring water and snacks. Protect yourself from sun and wind and check the weather before you leave. Things change quickly...

Save for a guide to South Africa! 👇 South Africa only took about 2 hours to become one of my favorite countries. The nature, people, food, animals, is ALL incredible I’d recommend a minimum of 10 days, but 2.5 weeks would be better! Here’s how I break down 10 days: 🌈 4 days Cape Town Can’t Miss: Robben Island, day trip to West Coast National Park, cable car up Table Mountain for sunset, hike Lions Head, Camps Bay, Obi for lunch, 🍷 2 days Stellenbosh winelands Can’t Miss: Jordan Winery, Boschendal Winery 🐋 2 days Hermanus Can’t Miss: Cliff Path, Klipgat Caves, Voelklip Beach, Fick’s Restaurant 🦜 2 days Plettenburg Bay Can’t Miss: Whale Tail lookout, Robberg Peninsula Hike, Emily’s Moon River Lodge, Birds of Eden 🚗 the easiest way to get around is to rent a car! Just be prepared to drive on the left side of the road Follow for more detailed travel guides! #southafrica #southafricatravel #southafricatrip #southafrica🇿🇦 #capetown #bucketlist #traveltips
