Rocklands Petting Farm in Hermanus is an average attraction for families looking to spend a few hours with farm animals. While it has its charms, there are also some areas for improvement.

The farm is home to a variety of animals, including sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, and even ponies. Children will enjoy feeding and petting the animals, and there are also some fun activities like pony rides and a small playground.

However, the overall experience can be underwhelming. The farm is quite small, and there isn't much to see beyond the animals. Some of the enclosures are quite basic, and the animals don't always appear to be well cared for. Additionally, the staff can be somewhat disengaged, and there is a lack of enthusiasm in their interactions with visitors.

Another issue is the admission fee, which is somewhat high given the size of the farm and the limited activities on offer. While it may be worth it for families with young children who are eager to interact with the animals, others may find the price to be a bit steep for what is essentially a short visit to a small petting farm.

Overall, while Rocklands Petting Farm is not a bad choice for a quick family outing, it falls short of being a truly exceptional attraction. With some improvements to the animal enclosures and staff engagement, it could be a more enjoyable experience...

What a fantastic experience. Don't come here expecting to have 5 star facilities like London Zoo, it's a small, family run farm style petting zoo. The staff who work here are very friendly and clearly very passionate about looking after the animals. Adult entry is R45 and it's R15 for a bucket of food: carrots, apples and seed. You're allowed to enter all the animal enclosures to get up close and personal, just use your common sense and keep an eye on your children as the staff won't be there to supervise their behaviour. They have goats, guinea pigs, pigs, chickens, an alpaca, bunnies, rabbits and a hedgehog, oh and two very hungry tortoises. Enjoy and remember to was your hands before going home, I'd recommend brining some hand...

This petting farm was not bad, but it was a little bit disappointing. According to their website, and their name, they are a petting farm. Therefore I expected to be able to touch the animals. When we got there, we paid for a snackpack and entry fees - which I have to say is quite cheap. But when it came to feed the animals, all of them are in cages and the gates are locked. We couldnt pet any of them, and there wasnt someone walking with us who could open the gates. Also, some of the animals were in a bad condition and most of the cages doesnt have clean water. This was very sad and not good for young children to see. The animals are cute yes, but we couldn't pet any of them - and thus even the name of this place...

Enjoy and remember to was your hands before going home, I'd recommend brining some hand sanitizer with you.

I suppose they could give the place a bit of a makeover as it looks quite scruffy and dirty. But the food you buy to feed the animals is nice and fresh. The animals look well cared for, and it was really cool to be able to enter and actually "pet" and feed the animals! There are a few kinds of animals: sheep, pigs, goats, bunnies, a lama, chicken, and a peacock. The kids loved it! There is a nice big jungle gym for the kids, with tables in the shade to sit by. There is food available (braaibroodjies, snacks, and cold drinks)
