I have never been on a hike that was so badly signed. We were all organised for a 6km and being a diabetic type one being organised is a number one priority. We landed doing 14km because there were very few clearly marked signs. Due to the intensity of the hike (which is mentioned nowhere) I had a sugar low at around 7km this would not happened if we knew where we were going. We called the owners for assistance and they did not answer. We not only hiked but climbed hills with huge rocks to eventually get to the gauge.which proved to be the most intense level ending in my twisting my ankle. I loved the scenery and am fairly fit but I do have some constants due to my age. For anyone that has bone and back issues this is not for you. To put it bluntly this is the worst hike I have been on in terms of organisation. There is no indemnity forms or guidance to the level of intensity of each route. The lady comes running out to get payment and then leaves. Loved the scenery but signs and more info on the hike would have been appreciated. Will never be back again. We met a single woman during the hike with 2 young boys and she also had the same issues as us. Start caring for the people who support you to keep the place going and invest some money on pamphlets and clear signs. The reality is I could have gone into a coma due to the lack / no information about the hike and what to expect. If I owned a beautiful property like that and their visitors contributions as a source of income I would spend more time with the visitors explaining what to expect. I would also come out my home and chat to all hikers that return. Its almost like I have your R100 per person now I don't care about you. As for the injured dog on the property well that just broke my heart and yes the owners were aware of it. Care for clients and wou will thrive. Thankfully I had my adult kids to help me through and finish....

Hallooo fellow hikers in this beautiful country of ours, South Africa.
Many awesome hiking trails and nature reserves in our country, as well as thousands of people who also LOVE immersing themselves within our country's pockets of exquisite beauty, such as Magoebaskloof, the Wild Coast, Knysna Forest, Magaliesberg and also, of course, the KRANSKLOOF hiking trail.
I must admit, I didn't expect it to be quite such a long and sometimes very challenging hiking trail, because I am not "hiking fit" and needed to rest every now and then. Thank goodness the other hikers didn't mind drinking in the beauty around them for the 5/10 minutes it took me to catch my breath!
Finally, after walking over grassland hills, when we reached the gorge, I decided to remove my hiking shoes. I needed to feel the forest floor under my feet. At first I felt extremely unsure, because when you walk barefoot it forces you to pay attention to every single step you take, to ensure safety and balance, especially because some boulders are wet and slippery. I decided to rather slide down on some of these on my backside, than trying to balance my way OVER them.
Walking barefoot for about an hour, 'earthed' me again and helped me to re-member my almost forgotten agility and balance!
Deep within the gorge, the shape of the cliffs are decorated with long "Wurg-Vy" vines/roots. There is a miniature “cathedral with a stage” hidden in the gorge. Try to find it when you walk this trail!

Marking The trail is well marked, and if you know or as usual hikers, then you won't get lost. We did not miss a turn due to the way the trail was marked.
Trail The trail is not tough or challenging. I guess maybe it's bcos me my wife and I are usual hikers. Instead, we found a tra very interesting and lovely 😍.
The creepy out of it is out of this world. It's like you are in a horror movie, but if you are a hiker, you will understand what I mean.
The scenery is beautiful with flowing water. I did like the trail. The big rocks make it outstanding and very interesting. We did the trail in 2:30 min tops.
The lady who was giving instructions, she was very clear and made it easier for us to navigate through the trail. Keep up the good work. I did catch her name, but she knows the trail from A to Z.
The ablution at their facility are clean and user friendly.
Parking There is plenty of parking with shade and safe parking, I guess.
Last but not least, keep up the good work, guys. All those who participate in keeping the trail so we'll mark and clean. You are the best Kudos 👏 💐 to you all.
