An amazing picnic with delicious food!! We were running very late, as we hiked a mountain before hand, therefore our 13:00 picnic become a 16:00 one. We called to advise the persons of our delay, and the person who answered said she would check with the kitchen and revert. We did get a call at 14:30 (2 hrs later) telling us that we needed to be there by latest 15:00. It was a call that made us very uncomfortable, as we explained our situation (we had just came off the mountain) but the lady insisted we needed to be there by 15:00 and that they close at 17:00. Not really not trying to find a solution for us, but rather putting more stress on us to literally get these in 30mins. We eventually got there at 16:00. We were greeted at arrival and escorted to meet Sino who was fantastic, and helped us out through the process of the wine, describing each dish to us, he was really amazing and took great care of us. At the end of the picnic we decided to take a short walk and look at the beautiful surroundings and amazing building. We walked into the wine tasting area and took in this amazing building and architectural design. We then walked outside on the balcony by the restaurant (which was not in use) at which point we were told that this area was out of bounce for non restaurant users ... we found this really poor taste as we were made to feel like a second class client. We said that we only wanted to take some photos of the view and we would be gone shortly. We were literally escorted out of the terrace, after being told twice, within a period of 2 mins that we weren't allowed there as we weren't dining in the restaurant. The overall food and wine experience and especially Sino's attention to detail to our comfort, was amazing. However patrons, no matter what "package" they choose to experience, be it picnic, wine tasing or restaurant should not be restricted as to where they can walk (we are talking about a balcony which was not in use) was really felt that Quoin can improve on their communication skills with patrons and not limit them to walk around this amazing farm. Wine was really expensive, and to be honest not...

The estate is pristine, boasting incredible artwork, landscapes, and seriously immaculate wines. There was a great energy in the wine lounge, and that coupled with exceptional service, made their offering even more excellent.
I thoroughly enjoyed all their wines, however their Black Series Chardonnay and Red Blend, were standout wines for my palate.
The Chardonnay is super pronounced. I found an abundance of flavours and aromas of lemon curd, lime zest, melon, toasted coconut, buttered toast, peacan nuts, and white flowers. The wine shows great concentrated fruit balanced by a lively acidity. The wine has a long, prominent finish. A seriously chard, for serious connoisseurs.
For the red, itās not every day that you get to taste the esteemed 2017 vintage. So that in its own right was special. The wine is powerful, pronounced, and showcases a touch of development which adds to its complexity. The red blend treats you to an array of flavours such as, blackcurrant, mulberry, and dark cherries, with hints of prune, green peppercorn and cherry tobacco. Lead by Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine shows medium (+) fine, ripe tannin, high acid, with a full and demanding body. The wine is extremely textural, and carries a long, intricate finish. Absolutely fit to be their flagship wine š·
AJ, the wine advisor, was charismatic and very knowledgeable. Five star service at its finest.
If you havenāt yet visited the estate, Iād highly recommend you treat yourself to one of the best experiences currently offered around the Cape Winelands.
Top notch stuff š

Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisit to wine lounge on 12 Nov 22: Very beautiful, modern venue. Staff very polite. Tasting CC (bought a glass @ R 150, generous portion) and the usual range of 5 wines. CC despite 40 months on lees not very distinct lees character. White blend (technically you could call it a Sauvignon Blanc, as only 8% Semillon) good, but not outstanding. Note, that we were served an oxydized taster portion and had to ask for a new bottle to be opened. Chardonnay above average again, but not exceptional. Syrah very good but again not exceptional. ā16 vintage⦠was not the best vintage for the Cape in general to put it mildly (holds also true for the Bordeaux blend). The Bordeaux blend (left side) once again above average but not exceptional. Piwe, our host could only reproduce very limited lines he was fed for rote learning. While trying to put up a valiant effort, only a thin veneer of facts was available and the rest was filled in by easily identified fibbing (often wrong). He should upon realising that we are experienced tasters and called for help or there was no knowledgeable help available. Summary: Poor experience in a beautiful environment; wines overpriced generously (3 to 5 times) of what you pay elsewhere. This includes the tasting @ R 300. P.S.: After the tasting we spoke extensively to Bafana, the tasting room manager. We explained the shortcomings in the tasting experience and he promised to bring it up to standards expected from...
