Remhoogte Wine Estate — Attraction in Stellenbosch Local Municipality

My husband and I stayed at Zebra Cottage which is a small house on the wine estate for a week. We loved it. We walked through the vineyards and up into the hills. The cottage itself was a bit rustic and could have been tidier, but we loved the veranda, the six winery dogs, and the beautiful views. I have only one complaint. We stayed on the grounds of a winery, and no one made an effort to talk to us about the wine! If there had been a welcome bottle on the table with a note, or if anyone on the property had offered to give us a tour or even schedule a tasting, we would have been thrilled. Perhaps the focus on the winery is not the two rental houses...I understand. It was still a terrific place to stay. It is just unfortunate we had to go wine tasting...

Great little wine farm nestled in Stellenbosch. The tasting room is simple but offers great views of the surrounding farm lands as well as springbok and zebra. The tasting room offers wine tastings, craft beer, vodka and flat breads to snack on. The wines are superb and the tasting are great, two tasting are available, premium and reserve. The reserve boasts 4 wines with above 4 stars on platters. 5 out of 6 tasted were fantastic. The farm is best know for their honeybush chenin, which is a stand out as far as chenins go. Hands down the best wine in the whole of South Africa, as a solo traveler I have tasted so many vast variety of wines, and let me tell you the wine is beyond beautiful. The atmosphere, environment, friendly staff and their restaurant called "Vuur" is extremely warm and welcoming. I stayed at Wildlife Retreat for a week and all I can say is world class!!!. If you truly want to experience a full South African wine adventure and delight, I would highly recommend I would have to put this place on my number 1 list of wine farms that I have traveled to throughout my years.
