Marakele Animal Sanctuary — Attraction in Thabazimbi Local Municipality

This one star is for the animals. The staff didn't want to help us when we got to the reception. The staff doesn't tell you what is going on at the place and what there is to do. We were there for the feeding, the group of people were at the back cage (we couldn't see them, we only saw them when they came back from the feeding) the workers couldn't tell us the feeding is currently happening you can still go and watch or nothing. We went for the lion mobile, arrangements were done, I called multiple times to confirm and we were on time and when we got there they said the people who do the lion mobile is not there, we should come tomorrow. First of all they only do feeding times twice a week - Wed and Sun, we were there on Sunday. The person told us to come tomorrow (which is Monday) so how does that work? Second of all we drove 3 hours to get there just to hear this disappointing news and disappointing experience - and they just want us to "come tomorrow". Won't go...

I was too late to visit and only popped in to check it out for a potential later visit. Unfortunately we ran out of time in the area and we never went for a proper visit. The staff was friendly and helpfull and everything I could see was well maintained and clean. I could even see a black spider monkey playing around next to what looked like a coffee shop. First I wanna say thanks to Emma and Alex for the most peaceful experience, that roars at nite, see how animals put their trust in you, looking after these amazing animals is a gift, a blessing knowing that people will go to so much work just so they can be safe.
