I did the Canopy Tour with my sister's school's hockey tour team, and all I can say, is that it was absolutely stunning! We pre-ordered our lunch, and it was delicious! Although it did take quite long to start the tour, (because there were 20 kids and 6 teachers in our group) it was worth the wait! The drive to the start of the ziplines was hilariously terrifying, but once at the top, we were ready to go! The second zipline was one of my favourites, with a scenic view of the Midlands, and I loved the natural spring water at the 3rd or 4th platform! We did it in the late afternoon, so we only finished at around 6pm, but ziplining through the forest in the evening was beautiful! A couple of the kids were a bit scared to do the longer lines, but quickly conquered the fear! The guides were helpful, and friendly to be around, also helping the scared kids! The platforms were secure and had just enough room for everyone! The natural beauty of this area made it really incredible, and I 100% would come back with my family and do it again! Thank you so much for the memorable experience, and I would recommend this to any adrenaline junkie any time! One of the best experiences I've ever had!...
Read moreDue to traffic issues on our way to Karkloof canopy tour we missed our appointment. Still a good 45 minutes out we rang the venue to let them know about our delay. We were told to come and we would be sorted on arrival. When we arrived we checked in, selected our light lunches, went through the safety briefing and then got kitted up in our rigorous safety harnesses. Just being the two of us we were outnumbered 3 guides to us two and the experience was fantastic. Always being clipped into large trees, cliffs and also secured in many ways while ziplining. Halfway through the tour we got some small refreshments before we continued. When we arrived back at the lodge we were served with a light lunch and we purchased a disk with pictures taken of us during the tour. The guides were friendly. Professional and funny. They told us about the trees and animals we might be able to see. They knew exaxtly how to proceed and informed us how to do each line, both in theory and in practice before either of us went down the rabbit hole. The Karkloof canopy tour comes with my highest recommendation and anybody visiting or living in Durban should go try this at least once...
Read moreVisited on 04/01 this year. The zip line tour itself was great. Road to the place however was horrendous. Should be forewarned about this. Our car hit a rock embedded in the road abt 70 meters from the parking area. Cracked the oil sump and had to be towed. That's ok. Life. What was disappointing tho was when I asked the manager if he could please give us(wife, son & I) a lift to the bottom so that my son-in-law, who drives a lowered citi golf did not have to drive on the same road all the way to the top. For the record, the vehicle that transports customers to the starting point was parked right next to us. The driver was sitting on the grass next to the car. I even offered to pay for the short ride. The manager's response was that we could either hail an Uber or we could walk down. It was just 300 meters or so he said. All with a warm smile. My wife is 49 years old and we had just completed a 2 hour tour, having spent close to R2000. And we were stranded in the middle of nowhere. I was gobsmacked. We all were. We walked anyway. Karkloof?...
