Went for my 1st Casino experience on our anniversary and decided to stay the night as well, but it was not what we expected. Paid for an overpriced room, but walking to the room, the doors in the corridor are very dirty, and so are the carpets leading to the rooms. We decided to go for dinner, went to Bistro and there was 2 x ladies who was helping 1 x man and his friend at the counter (one waitress wasn't attending to them but listened etc) so we stood there in the front about 5 minutes and she looked at us and not once did she say she will attend to us or anything. We saw a board saying Beef Baron, so we decided to follow it and asked someone what it is, and they said "steakhouse." We thought great... Got there, there are no servants and another customer searching for someone to help. Eventually, a waiter came out and seated us, and we ordered coctails and the surf and turf. The chips were overcooked as well as the steak (the steak was very tough), and the 3x calamari was the only item that was really delicious. We ate because waiting for your food more than an hour was long enough. So we didn't complain and went to the casino. The Casino is okay, not the experience I thought it to be. Went to our room and there was a summer festival held at the dome and the music shook all the windows and was so loud that we put our TV up to Max and still couldn't hear a word, that continued until 01:30am . The next morning, we went for breakfast and again no friendly service. Instead, we are met with 2 x waiters who are very disappointed that they needed to work that day. I politely asked if I could have a fried egg with some toast (no toast at the buffet)and butter as there were no condiments. They were very upset and agreed that they would go make. Toast and my egg was 💯. We packed our things and left the key in the box where I pressume a manager was coming out of his office and he just walked away. Attended the Riaad Moosa Live Comedy Show on Friday, 23 September, arrived early to start the evening with supper which was a disaster. The Beef Baron was understaffed as we waited for more than 15 minutes for a waitperson services, eventually when one arrived it was a waitress that was unfamiliar with the menu, the drinks took 40 minutes to arrive and when was ready to order was told that the kitchen has many orders and we would need to wait for our meals. We decided to just have our drinks and leave. Thankfully the show had snacks which was a pleasant surprise. Following the show we decided to try the bistro and eventually left after the poor service. The hotel should have planned better ensuring that there was sufficient staff to assist on a busy day and staff need to be better trained to attend to the guests.
