Fort Durnford — Attraction in Umtshezi Local Municipality

What a sad visit this was! The Fort was locked, even though it was supposed to be open. Someone (staff I assume) peaked at us from the side building and just ignored us further. The toilets was disgustingly dirty and everything just run down and not looked after. The wagon under cover is not maintained and there wont be much left of it in a few years. Sad that the back buildings are broken down, and taken over by the local people, rubbish everywhere in the rubble. Surely a historical building like this can be more looked after...

Beautiful fort situated on the hill on the outskirts of escort - it takes you back in time to the war, walking to the canons that over look the little town of Eskort.
