A straight forward hike from start to finish with Panoramic views from the peak, with Hout bay, Long beach, Sun Valley, Noordhoek and Muizenberg and False Bay and the Cape Flats coast line on a clear day. A moderate short hike, 2 hours up and 1 hour down. The start is intense, uphill for about 40 mins , will get you huffing and puffing until it levels out for a while as the trail makes it way around the mountain. The last section overlooking Noordhoek, where a break can be taken before the submit to the peak. One can see the actual peak from here. It will get you once again huffing and puffing but worth every step to the top. You will be rewarded with the best views Cape Town has to offer at 550m. A definite must for local and foreign visitors...plenty of opportunities to take awesome photos, relax , meditate and just take in all the fresh air and sights and clear the mind, recharge, reset and reboot the body at the peak. Appreciate and be grateful. Hike smart and safe. Weather is unpredictable, so check the weather report, Dress appropriately and carry enough water, bag lunch or what you like to have on the peak. The way back down is exactly the same as going up..so no problem there. Directions From Hout Bay side get at the Toll booth, as for a day pass, so no money paid, drive until you are stopped by a mountain employee and he will indicate where to park. From there is up to you to make the best of the moment and you time... experience...
Read moreThe top of Chapman's peak is an amazing place to be. It has the best view of any hiking trail. The view from the top is better than what you get from the top of Table Mountain. The trail is easy in terms of difficulty and also easy to follow (impossible to lose it). It's just strenuous since 90% of the trail is uphill. Recommended to start early since the whole trail is exposed to the sun after a certain time. There is limited parking at the start and a portable toilet but its state is not very good. You don't need to pay the toll to access this point. Just mention that you are coming for the hike at the toll gate and they will give a day pass. Going alone is not...
Read moreA great place to start or end a hike. There are multiple paths and you can chose based on time and distance you would like to pick for. Nearest one is the start from chapmans peak drive way, This path leads up or comes back from the top of Chapman's Peak itself. It's about 500m in elevation and takes around 1.5-2 hours. A bit of a bushy path, but pretty easy to follow. You can return via the same route or go over the top and down the other side. That route comes out at the check point near the toll gates of Chapman's peak drive. If you looking for nice 6-7 hrs hike with climbing multiple mountains, start from...
