One of my favorite hikes in Cape Town. Its an easy 3 hour round trail hike [at a leisurely pace] Pet friendly, a few people with their dogs will be on the trail as well as more trail runners.
Best views of Houtbay and the ocean. In springtime the path is very narrow due to the overgrown fynbos. But it is absolutely beautiful with a wide variety of flowers.
It starts of with a few steps, not at all hard, and winds up the mountain making it super easy, there is a split on the left side of this trail where you can do sky ledge or right-side to blackburn cove. You can start from left and go clockwise on this trail or from right, my recommendation would definitely be to do it clockwise as the right hand side is more of a climb and by the waterfall so I find it easier to climb down there than to start my hike off with a steep climb.    Read more2nd time around and we did the right Chapmans, haha..I say this because I went the first time around with friends & family and did Noordhoek thinking it was Chappies only to be told quite close to the peak that it’s not Chappies.. Chapman’s is definitely much more breathtaking than Noordhoek because of the sea view, you can definitely tell I’m a lover of sea view right..haha One of thee most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done and the weather was just right..can get quite slippery so wouldn’t advise for you to do it in the rain..very dog friendly even though I don’t have a dog but...
