Spending time in nature makes me happy! We enjoyed a mindful stroll to the top of Silvermine Waterfall with sunshine, birdsong and beautiful views along the way.

We'll tackle the steep steps down to the waterfall next time. The Proteas were just beginning to bloom, so we'll return soon to see them as there are hundreds of Protea bushes.

Good to know: 👇

🍃 There is no fee if you hike from Gate 2 at Silvermine Nature Reserve. 🍃 There are a number of hiking trails that vary in length and difficulty. 🍃 Take any litter home with you; preferably use reusable containers, water bottles, etc. 🍃 Bring sunscreen, water, snacks, cap/hat, warm clothes & rain gear in case the weather changes. 🍃 Dogs are permitted on a leash (most people don't adhere to this) and a dog permit is required. 🍃 There is very limited cell reception, so make sure to let someone know where you are & when you're due to return. 🍃 Have fun & enjoy Mother Nature's beauty!

Dogs are also allowed on the route...furry friends would greatly appreciate a good splash...the only down side would be navigating down to the fall and back up again. Some of the path is tricky and other parts can be...

This little hike can be anything from a 20-minute refresh to 4 hours if you're feeling energetic.

It starts as easy as you like and in about 20 minutes, you can view the waterfall.

Free tip: Take the trail down slowly - it can be slippery in wet weather.

There's lots of opportunity for great pics and soaking up the sun is also fantastic.

The trail is well marked and please stay on the path and don't make fires in this sensitive...
