Sangdang Sanseong Fortress — Attraction in Cheongju-si

Beautiful place. I go there quite often to get away from city life. Verm calm place with amazing views of the whol city.

There are some markets and shops inside the fortress. A flower park and a small lake. There are huts/picnic spots where you can take your stuff and eat. On the sides is the wall of the fortress. One can hike/walk on the wall. It takes about 2 hours to complete a round trip of the wall. You can see the whole surrounding area from those walls as it is on a high place. Prominently you can see Cheongju airport, whole city and downtown area from the walls. The main gate has a lush green area in the front which serves as a playing area or picnic spot.

Visited the fortress quite lateley in the afternoon but we were not disappointed. It's a lovely place to go on a walk and the view is just breathtaking. You can almost see the whole city of Cheongju with all those high buildings (try to find your place or hotel) on one side and the beautiful nature with it's mountains on the other side. I would come here everytime when I am around in this area. We did not visited the village inside the walls but took the round on the wall. We took about an hour to walk those 3 km around. The way is not always easy to go and maybe especially not for elder people with problems to walk. But just take your time and enjoy the view....

The parking lot is not that big but this place is big for every one to sit on the mat enjoying the day. Some ppl even bring tent. Maybe it is forbiden here to cook here but you can just bring food and eat it here. As you can see from the picture, fall folliage is so pretty.
