Sinri Shrine — Attraction in Dangjin-si

In a country where over 70% of the land is covered by mountains, the experience of wandering through flatlands was already quite special. During a visit in the autumn season, I passed through the golden rice fields of Dangjin and arrived at the Sinri Sanctuary. Along the way to the main chapel, I encountered several prayer rooms and a wall that surrounded them, which started low, rose to some height, and then lowered again. 조선시대에 신리에는 약 400여 명의 천주교 신자들이 모여 살았다고 합니다. 신리에 있던 성 손자선토마스의 생가에는 천주교 조선교구 제5대 교구장이었던 성 다블뤼 안토니오 주교가 계셨고, 1865년에는 위엥 민 신부, 도리 김 신부, 볼리외 서 신부 등 세 명의 선교 사제가 이곳으로 입국하였다고 합니다. 다볼뤼주교님은 이곳에서 성 황석두 루카의 도움을 받아 한글 교리서와 신심서 등을 저술, 번역하였고, 조선 순교자들의 행적을 수집, 기록하여 파리로 보내서 1874년 '한국천주교회사'를 발행하는 토대를 마련함으로써 우리나라 103위 성인과 124위 복자 탄생에 기여하셨습니다. 신리 교우촌은 1866년 병인박해 때 다볼뤼주교, 위앵 신부, 오매트르 신부 등 세 명의 목자와 황석두 루카, 손자선 토마스 등 다섯 분의 성인이 체포되고, 기록으로 찾을 수 있는 순교자만 41 명에 이르는 박해를 받으면서 초토화되었다고 합니다. 당시 주교관은 1927년 교우들이 다시 매입하였고 현재 신리성지에 이르고 있습니다. 풍요롭게 넓은 평야인 신리마을, 다볼뤼 주교님의 주교관으로 사용하였던 손자선 토마스 생가 주변에 조성된 신리성지는 모진 박해시대에 참행복을 누리며 살았던 신앙 공동체 신자들의 고향이며 안식처입니다. 신리성지에는 성당과 다볼뤼주교님 주교관, 기념관, 다섯 성인의 자그마한 경당, 십자가의 길 십사처가 조성되어 있습니다. 성당 2층에는 성체조배실이 있습니다. 신리성지의 성모님은 다볼뤼주교님이 다니면서 기도하고 위로받으셨다고 하는 파리 승리의...
