우리나라에서 맨처음 수산협동조합을 만든곳이 가조도라 하여 그기념을 하기위해 수산업에 관한 모든것들을 전시해 놓은 전시관 및 기념관, 관람객들을 위한 부대시설, 편익시설과 전망대 그리고 포토존을 비롯한 어부와 수협이 상생하는 '어부의 손' 이라는 조각품 등 다양한 볼거리를 제공하므로 수산업의 이모저모와 발전, 또는 과거와 미래를 한 눈에 보고 공부할 수 있는 유익한 공간이 아닐까 싶다. 또 가족끼리 나들하기 좋은 공원이라해도 손색이 없겠다. 전망대에 올라서면 8년 여(2001~2009년) 걸쳐 완공한 연륙교와 아기자기한 남해 풍광이 참 아름답고 매력적이다.
