Hwadam Forest is an ecological tree garden located in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, 40 minutes from Seoul. LG Evergreen Foundation focused on restoring the ecosystem of our forest and created 16 themed gardens with 4,300 species of domestic and foreign native and introduced plants on 165,265㎡ (approximately 50,000 pyeong) of land. From the moment you enter to the moment you exit, you can tell that a lot of time, thought, effort, patience, care, love, culture and tradition went into creating this stunning, magical, nature lover's paradise.
Going at the beginning of Autumn was like getting to experience the last summer green beauty in the trees whilst saying hello to the yellowy, orangey hues of a few autumn leaves as they began to spread across the garden. I can only imagine how stunning this place is at the height of autumn or any other season especially spring.
It's a perfect day out experience; whether solo; boo'd up; friends outing or a family day. They cater for everyone with a lot of bathroom & vending machine stops along the way and benches to have a mini food and drink break or just to enjoy the surroundings.

If you plan to travel by metro or by public bus, you have to get to Gonjiam Station and from there take a taxi to the Gonjiam Resort. Here it would be best if you decided what time you want to ride the monorail and book your tickets as most likely they will be sold out, and you might not be able to get on the monorail. My advice is to leave some time to look around, have coffee once you are inside, then take the monorail, and have a comfortable ride around the park.
