Gyeongju Tower – A Modern Tribute to the Ancient Hwangnyongsa Wooden Pagoda Located in the Gyeongju World Culture Expo Park within the Bomun Tourist Complex, Gyeongju Tower is a striking observation tower designed by Itami Jun, a renowned Korean-Japanese architect. Completed in 2007, the tower stands 82 meters tall and draws inspiration from the legendary nine-story wooden pagoda of Hwangnyongsa Temple from the Silla Dynasty.

Its most distinctive feature is the engraved silhouette of the pagoda at the center of the structure, blending traditional Korean architecture with modern design. At the top, an observation deck offers panoramic views of the Expo Park and the surrounding area.

Whether under the bright daylight or illuminated at night, the tower provides a stunning backdrop for photos. It's a popular destination for families and couples, offering a unique experience that combines history, culture, and scenic beauty.

Gyeongju World Culture Expo is a big park that is good for educational, entertaining and relaxing with friends and family. There are many buildings and open area for several contents, exhibitions and performances. Gyeongju Tower was built in the shape of a nine-story wooden pagoda of Hwangnyongsa Temple, which was the world's highest wooden structure during the reign of Queen Seondeok. There are 2 observatories where you can feel the history and enjoy the culture. There are also a café where you can rest and enjoy the scenery from above. I also like about the Timeless Media Art with the motif of Gyeongju and UNESCO World Heritage and arose interest through the interactive beautiful media art. Ticket Price: Adult 8,000 Won....

Korean architecture is very famous and the Gyeongju Tower makes this very clear! The tower is a work of art! Imposing, its internal contour forming a pagoda is incredible. On the first floor you have access to a large historical model of the city, you will also have access to antique pieces and jewelry used by former monarchs and you can also have a coffee inside the tower, because there is a café avaiable. On the top floor you can watch films that tell the history of the city and Korea. The views that the tower provides of the city of Gyeongju are beautiful! Parking is free and a small entrance fee is charged to access the tower and other attractions of this tourist complex. It is an unmissable attraction and you...

Gyeongju Tower itself is one attraction within the Gyeongju World Culture Expo Park (₩12000/adult for the entire complex) which must be entered to gain access. Not a bad attraction by any means, but also not a ‘must see’ if you’re limited for time. I had to laugh here as once you reach the top, the views are ‘blocked’ by staff activating a set of blinds, but this is merely to watch a short film on the area before the views are revealed once again. Decent views of the area, I like how the inner void aligns with the nearby pagoda.
