I walked the easiest trail (Eoseungsaengak) with a Tour group.

  • Tour: Jeju island Southern Unesco Mt.halla ONE day Bus Tour
  • Booked via booking.com

Thoughts about the trail: It takes 30-40 minutes to reach the mini peak, and easy to walk as the path is mainly made up of dirt paths and boardwalks. One does not need to be very fit to do this route. If you do some simple walking cardio in your daily life, this route is easy. The mini peak is very windy, enjoy the view and make sure there are no loose belongings. :)

Thoughts about the tour: I recommend going with a tour, as it could bring tourists to different locations without worrying about transport. My tour consisted of 5 different locations including Hallasan, and we had a decent to good amount of time for each location. The tour recommended the easiest trail as most people would be able to complete it. If u would like to walk the more difficult trails (3h per direction), an alternative arrangement would have to be made.

A shoutout to Peter who was my tour guide. [Guy in the middle of the group photo is Peter] He was very humorous, and shared a lot of interesting information about Jeju Island. If u need any assistance (e.g. photo taking, lunch ordering), he will not hesitate to help. Thanks to him, I enjoyed the...

Took the trail in January (Winter).

The first time we went up, it was very icy and looked very dangerous without crampons (especially as my wife is pregnant), so we just played in the snow for a bit.

Note that no crampons are sold around the area. You'll have to find them before you go up the mountain.

The second time we bought crampons and were more prepared! But because it was the weekend, there were a lot more people taking the trails (it shares a carpark with Eorimok trail). We had to park a ways down the mountain on the roadside and climb up from there.

It still took the good part of 2 hours to get up and down. A lot of photos may show you boardwalks, which may fool you into thinking that this is an easy trail, but unfortunately all the boardwalks get snowed over during the winter.

So come prepared with crampons during the winter and leave time for 2 hours if you want to enjoy the view and take nice photos. Snacks like kimbap (we liked New-Jeoji) are also highly...

There are a lot of stairs and it takes a lot of effort. The view from the top is very beautiful.

It's a good course to do with your family. It is a short course, but it is quite high at 1,169 meters. You can see the top of Hallasan Mountain and you can see the downtown of Jeju at a glance.

Below is a quote from 1001 in Korea that you must visit before you die.

It is the most gentle hiking trail among Hallasan Mountain hiking trails, and it is an oreum connected to the entrance of Eorimok, which is good for family outings. It is easy to mistake it for the ridge of Hallasan Mountain, but it is 1,169m high and is the highest among the oreum with a single crater. It is popular as a light hiking course for about an hour to enjoy the panoramic view of Jeju instead of Hallasan Mountain, which is often restricted from climbing due to the influence of the weather. In particular, to the northwest, there is a wide water source that supplies Jeju's drinking water. As a special product of Jeju, the most outstanding horse among the most famous horses of the Joseon Dynasty was born, and it was named Eoseungsaeng, meaning "a word dedicated to the king."

From the driveway to the summit, anyone can easily climb the wooden stairs, and the view from the summit is a spectacular view of the Jeju coast at a glance using Hallasan Mountain as a folding screen. It is heartbreaking to have a hideous concrete facility in Gugugok and Cheonhwangsa Temple with beautiful scenery, where 99 strange rocks are located, and Jeju Island at the end of World War II was used as the last battleground near the summit of Oreum, leaving the military facility installed by Japan...

It's probably the shortest and easiest peak trail amongst the hallasan mountain ranges to trek, 1.3km x 2 ways. It's slightly north west, nearer to Jeju city. We went on a rainy late March morning, it was 100% foggy. Should take an hour if you are not stopping for photos, even with the fog, it's beautiful. It's slightly steep steps for the first part, but eases out to a walk in the whimsical type of mossy woods. At the peak of about 1,169m, you should see the Hallasan ranges but it was completely foggy for us cos of the 🌧 rain. Suitable for beginners and even children. No prior booking required. It's opposite the Eorimok trail entrance. There's ample parking and restroom. Parking cost KRW1,800 and there's no entrance fee to the trail.
