This is a fun gondola ride. The ride itself takes you over the Imjingang River and some farm fields. I will admit the view from the gondola is a little mundane, as it does look like just some ordinary farm fields, albeit with barbed wire. However, the gondola drops you off inside the DMZ, where there are interesting displays and walking activities. If you're able to walk up steep hills, the Imjingang River Peace Observation platform up the big hill gives a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. This observation point ONLY looks into South Korea, so if you want to look at North Korea, visit the Dora Observatory. If you like scenic views, interesting displays, and short hikes all juxtaposed with barbed wire and land mine signs, I recommend taking the gondola and spending time on the DMZ side. During my visit, the weather and lighting weren’t great for photos, which was a bit disappointing, but the ride itself was still smooth and enjoyable. Despite having quite a few tour groups present, the wait was short and well-managed.
If you’re at Imjingak, the Peace Gondola is a nice addition to the visit — best on a clear day for the most scenic views and photo...
Read moreNot recommended by our tour guide to take the gondola because the scenery was mostly mundane farmland on South Korean side (hence the guide said it’s not worth it), but I still rate the building 3-star for the well-maintained clean conditions. I stopped by here twice during a day tour to DMZ.
Tip: The bathroom on upper level (opposite to Dunkin’ Donuts) tended to be less crowded and more spacious than the one on ground floor. On the upper level u can also head out for a bit of a panoramic view of the surrounding and fresh air away from the tourists and tour buses…
Lots of different choices of food and drinks u...
