천불동 계곡 — Attraction in Sokcho-si

Aside from the top of Daecheongbong Peak and the next two kilometers or so down from there, I don't remember having more "ooooh and aaaah" moments anywhere else in Seoraksan National Park as I did here. The scenery was absolutely stunning. The mountains rising high above you on either side, the water rushing through the valley below, and the peaks in front of you off in the distance were absolutely beautiful.

This section is a little bit of a hike from the Visitor Center, but it is before most of the uphill sections of the trail that lead to the mountain peaks, so I'd say most people would be fit enough to make it here. If so, you'd be crazy not to visit this place. Pictures don't...

That was a breathtaking valley with maples, full of small waterfalls, Near there there was an tall rocks that is called 비선대 (bi seondae) with a view of the center seoraksan. It was unforgetable, memorable memory I had at seoraksan. I will recommend this place at autumn for its unbelivable...

설악골 계곡이라고도 한다. 설악산에 있는 대표적 계곡의 하나이다. 비선대에서 대청봉으로 오르는 7km 코스의 중간 계곡으로 설악의 산악미를 한곳에 집약하듯, 와선대를 비롯하여 비선대 ·문주담, 이호담, 귀면암,오련폭포, 양폭, 천당폭포 등 유수한 경관들이 계곡을 따라 이어진다.

천불동이라는 호칭은 천불폭포에서 딴 것이며, 계곡 일대에 펼쳐지는 천봉만암과 청수옥담의 세계가 마치 ‘천불’의 기관을 구현한 것 같다고 일컬어지고 있다.

설악산 비선대와 천불동계곡 일원은 비선대에서 대청봉 사이에 있는 7km 길이의 계곡이다. 지리산의 칠선계곡, 한라산의 탐라계곡과 더불어 우리나라 3대 계곡 중 하나 이며 설악 10경 중 하나이다. 비선대는 와선대에서 노닐 던 마고선이라는 신성이 이곳에 와서 승천하였다 해서 붙여진 이름이다.

예로부터 많은 시인묵객들이 찾아 자연의 오묘한 이치 를 감상했다고 한다. 비선대에 있는 바위에는 많은 사람 들의 이름이 새겨져 있는데 그 중 갑신정변을 주도했던 김옥균의 흔적도 있다.

천불동계곡의 이름은 천개의 바위가 마치 불상을 늘어 놓은듯 하다 해서 붙여진 이름이다.천불동 계곡을 따라 올라 가면 비선대, 문수담, 이호담, 귀면암, 오련폭포, 양폭, 천당 폭포 등 수려하고 빼어 난 경관들이 계곡을 따라 이어져...
