Absolutely incredible and deeply enriching experience at Sudoksa Temple! From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the serene beauty and peaceful atmosphere of this historic temple nestled in the mountains. Sudoksa is a truly special place, steeped in history and tradition, and offers a wonderful opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnect with oneself. My temple stay program was fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the various activities offered, including the calming tea ceremony (차담), the deeply resonant singing bowl meditation, the guided meditation sessions, and the opportunity for quiet prayer. Each of these practices allowed for a profound sense of peace and reflection. The monks and staff were incredibly welcoming and provided clear guidance throughout the program. The accommodations were simple but comfortable, and the vegetarian meals were delicious and nourishing. The entire experience felt authentic and provided a genuine glimpse into Buddhist monastic life. If you are looking for a meaningful and restorative experience in a beautiful setting, I highly recommend a temple stay at Sudoksa. It was a truly memorable journey for the mind, body, and spirit.

This is one of the oldest and most beautiful temples in Korea nestled deep into the mountains. Not only are the temples breathtaking, it is the training sight and home to Korean Buddhism. The compound itself is large with many things to see. However, it is steep in elevation and there are several steps to climb. I highly advise wearing comfortable shoes. I went in Dec 2022 & there was a fair amount of snow. However, the grounds are well kept and the property overall is in great shape. You are allowed to enter the temples, but you will have to take off your shoes. There is also a little shop for souvenirs on the ground; however, you need to bring Korean Won. On the way up to the temple, there is a market area filled with souvenir stores, coffee shops, & a few restaurants. Most of those places take card. Highly recommend this place to visit.

Sudeoksa Temple, which has played an important role in the history of Korea’s Buddhism, is located at the foot of Deoksungsan Mountain. It was one of twelve temples from the Baekje Kingdom mentioned in Chinese historical records. There is no historical record of when the temple was founded but researchers believe it was founded sometime during the reign of King Wuideok (554-597). The main building of Sudeoksa Temple, Daeungjeon Hall, was constructed in 1308 during the Goryeo dynasty. It was repaired four times between 1528 and 1803, but fortunately kept its original beauty. In addition to Daeungjeon Hall, Sudeoksa Temple houses many cultural treasures, such as the Three-story Stone Pagoda of Sudeoksa Temple. ※ Follow my instagram : @naanakang97_ ※ visit n subscribe my youtube channel : NANA's TRIP
