great place to visit for the whole family. i know some of the reviewers said the average stay was 2-3 hours. we spent the whole day there. we didn't get a good seat in the avery first time round so we went back again a couple of hours later and arrived about 10 minutes before it opened. there we were able to get a good seat and enjoy the show.
the only downside to this place is the croc feeding enclosure/paddock. by the time we got there, the enclosure was full and we had to watch from the outside which was disappointing from our kids point of view.
even though this place is of the beaten track it is definately a must visit for those with children.
i could go on about this place but i'll try and keep it simple. the hightlight of this park is the petting part. our twins got the touch some amazing exotic animals most kids could only dream about. they were able to hold some small crocs and snakes. (assisted of course by the friendly handlers).
as for pricing. gran canaria is by no means a cheap place to visit. but this was one of the very few places that had a cheap entry price. the food and toys were quite reasonable. we bought alot of stuffed teddys for the twins and the girl at the till threw in several keyrings as a nice gesture.
we went around the 20th of may and got there early, just after the park opened. so within a few hours it was building up and this is a quiet time of the year. if your visiting this amazing park at peak summer times. i suggest you check out the times for the different activites on during the day and arrive early for these. the avery was on twice so we were able to get around to a 2nd viewing but the croc feeding only happens once during the day so it's best to arrive early at the feeding enclosure and get a seat in the paddock as not to be disappointed. there was also a feeding time for the white tigers, again this was only once during the day. as this is was done in a safe environment where there was a big glass partition it is advisable to check the feeding time for this and arrive early. the crowds were 4-5 deep during this time. so unless the kids are at the front it'll be extremey difficult for them...
Read moreIt was quite a hectic experience. Lots of people - we arrived at the same time as two full busses which meant walking in a queue for the first part until we "ran" ahead. There were a lot if screaming and yelling children, extremely loud, and parents and teachers that weren't much better. We also have a smaller child (4 years old) so we're used to the commotion. He loves animals and parks like this abd had been talking about the crocodiles for ages before and even he still thinks the best experience was the 1€ toy he got from a machine. We had really looked forward to the visit but left stressed and disappointed. The animals had rather small enclosures and the poor crocodiles were so full that the caretaker had to smack them on the nose with meat and almost stuff it down their throats. We're also baffled by the LOUD music that was playing all over the place - but that's not only in this place. All in all, sadly a...
Read moreSuch a shame this place needs to exist. We visited with our primary age child and we enjoyed it. Our child got a lot out of the visit, we did too. Again, a shame such places need to exist. The staff were all nice, we were eating lunch pruchased from the cafe (hot dogs and chips, surprising amount of chips) when a staff member told us the crocodile show was starting in 10minutes, 'but don't rush take your time'. We went to watch the show which was ok, hard to hear the information when you have spectators talking over the guides. One shock however, was one of the guides in the enclosure did get bitten by a croc Infront of all spectators, croc was not letting go of his hand, but other guides came and assisted getting the croc off him and they took him for treatment. It wasn't too traumatic and our child wanted to know how he is doing.
A wonderful array of animals, in a beautiful setting. All in all, a lovely...
