This place is dedicated to preserving the biodiversity of La Gomera. It's focus has been on restoring the ecosystem following the tremendous damage caused in 2012 by a wildfire, which affected this side of the island. The visitor centre is quite small with a handful of small shops and an exhibition about the project and the progress made so far. The lookout platforms are brilliant. They are relatively new and the views from them are wonderful and very photogenic. We visited as part of an all day island tour, coming over by hydrofoil from Tenerife. It's a fair old drive from the main port and the roads are narrow and twisting, but the views here and all around the coast of the island...
Read moreRemarkable scenery, extensive walks, very well laid out, something for serious hikers and also for novice walkers. Routes are clearly labelled and intersect at places. You can drive to some and walk from and to others. We walked to the highest peak - Alto de Garajonay. Shame walk 6 was closed off. But plenty to choose from. Worth the trek to the top.
