A quiet, yet crazy and therefore very ambitious, motivated project by the well-known Danish art lovers, the Aspæk family. The layout of the exhibition rooms in a rather classical building is clear and serves only one purpose: to give art its due. After many bad examples of architecture-focussed buildings, the initiant shows that they understands the profession. Well-lit, even inexperienced artists can make their appearance here - it sometimes gives the impression of an art school exhibition, which takes courage and deserves respect. This is the only way to see something new. Whether the rather luxurious studios, remote from the 'world', are conducive to creativity and inspiration is open to question. Time will tell. The inner courtyard invites reflection, the cafeteria discussion. As in all Danish museums, there is a children's space here for a different approach. This breaks down walls between the uninhibited and the elitist. All in all, a plus for...
Read moreI expected to give this gallery a 5* review and I believe it has the potential to get one. However, we were most disappointed in our visit. I make no judgement on the displayed work which is an entirely subjective issue. Our visit was marred by apparent disorganization and, worst of all, by the howling of chainsaws cutting up a dead palm tree in the centre of the otherwise beautiful courtyard, permeating the entire gallery and ruining any peace and serenity. As the gallery does not open until 10.30, surely this could have been done beforehand. At 11.15 the cafe floor was still being mopped and we were told to wait, feeling as if we were an intrusion. Surely such a prestigious place can do better than this? I do give the gallery credit for giving us a reduced entrance fee of 5€ as one of the main rooms was not open. I hope to be able to revisit CCA at some point and enjoy a more peaceful and...
Read moreWe’ve been visiting Mallorca and Andratx specifically as a family for many years. We went to CCA today with our 6 month old, 3 year old and 6 year old and we spent 6 hrs there! We looked through the galleries and played in the kids art galleria and had picnic lunch in the cloistered courtyard - I got a free beer as the cafe was closed due to staff illness. It was pretty empty and the staff and resident artists were really welcoming. Played pétanque outside then through the gallery gardens up to the spring fed mountain pools, that we shared with goats! Surreal and lovely day. Kids were free €8 per adult! Amazing place to visit with...
