In the Tena Valley (Spain), going up the Aragón Subordán river, a place worthy of a dream awaits us: "Aguas Tuertas", an environment of beauty, both natural and cultural.

The path goes around the Castle of Acher, a mountain of 2,364 m and passes through the narrows of the "Boca del Infierno", which runs through the "Selva de Oza" with its beech forests until it reaches the "Guarrinza".

"Aguas Tuertas" requires a short and easy ascent to reach this immense glacial valley that runs from south to north according to the direction of the waterway. This is a rarity, as most of the large Pyrenean valleys in Huesca run in the opposite direction. Thousands of years of sedimentation, tectonic changes and glacial action created this intricate course.A landscape that looks like something out of Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings.

The beauty of this splendid place of the Jacetania goes beyond the nature that surrounds it, since to it is added the existence of enigmatic megalithic constructions, in fact it is located within an area of the Pyrenees, which is considered to have the highest concentration of megalithic constructions of the entire Iberian Peninsula.

It is highly recommended the excursion to the dolmen of Aguas Tuertas, one of the best known thanks to its excellent state of preservation. In addition, the site of the Corona de los Muertos, in the Selva de Oza, houses more than one hundred and twenty stone circles that correspond to the bottoms of huts and allow us to learn more about the life of the first settlers of the Pyrenean mountain range. All the remains found in this archaeological area are shown and explained in the Pyrenean Megalithic and Val d'Hecho Interpretation Center, which also organizes guided tours to the megalithic monuments of the valley during the high season.

Put on your boots and go for it! It is a great excursion with children...

What a beautiful area! And that includes the hike to get there. The park-like appearance of the valley and the AT plateau is maintained by cows and horses functioning as 'lawn mowers'. It's best to park your car before the paved road ends, about 2 km before the Guavrinza parking, and start your hike there.
