Highly unsafe place! The area is threatened by local drugged people (junkies) that hide in the parking normally in moto cross or big black suv and wait for rented cars in order to assault them and steal whatever is inside. This is my car when I came back from a short 15 min walk (just to the shore, we didn't go to the tower). We saw the guy on the motocross who was coming towards us while we were entering the trail. He had a very dodgy face. Motors are not allowed inside the park and he was not wearing a helmet. They stole our bags from the boot of the car with everything we had (luckily not the documents) and they could run away before we got there. The police told us that this is VERY common in this parking and I saw one review which was saying the same. I wasted time and money going there. You can avoid this terrible experience. Of course the coast is amazing but there are other sites less...
Read moreI love the hike along the acantillado to the Torre. Great views of the cliffs and Barbate, and the tower itself is interesting. They open it in the summer on the weekends so you can go to the top (small groups at a time, 2 euros), which is cool. It's about 8 km round trip from Barbate along the cliffs, and about the same from Canos through the woods. There is a much shorter trail from a small car park on the Canos-Barbate road for anyone not wanting to walk the...
Read moreWe walked from the car park to the tower. The forest is lovely and the views from the tower over the coastline are amazing. HOWEVER the car parks are subject to crime. We had our luggage stolen from the car even though it was hidden inside the boot. The car window was smashed to gain entry. So be really careful and avoid the car parks on the coastal road. When we reported it to the police they said that theft from cars was common...
