If you hate crowded places then avoid this attraction. It really is very busy! If I was to visit again I would come in low season because this really is a beautiful place, but you just can't enjoy it properly because of all the people. We traveled 2 hours for this experience - was it worth it? Hmm, I'm still on the fence about that. But that's only because we visited in high season when it is packed with tourists. - I do recommend sea shoes as its rocky and stoney underfoot, but my teenage daughters both wore sliders and were fine. The water is freezing, but is ok once you're in and adjust. There is a jump platform at one of the pools but you have to que for it. I honestly thought this place would be bigger, it isn't really, you could spend a few hours here or just 30 mins and you'd see it all, depending on if you bathe, though, this isn't really a place where you can swim. It was 35c when we were here yesterday, and thankfully it's fairly shaded and the water keeps you cool if you take a dip and then walk down to the next pool. This place is not at all accessible if you have mobility issues. Even as a fit, able bodied person, it can be tricky in places. It's cheap to get in and we paid at the gate for 2 adults and 2 students, I think it was 18€ and you get a coloured wrist band which is timed. When they call your colour it's time to leave. I'm not sure how long that is as we left early. You are not allowed to take any food or snacks into the park, only water is permitted, but there are lots of eateries just outside. The car park was €6, but there is a free one at the tourist information building. We did enjoy a couple of hours here, but left because it was just too busy. The road up to the car parks is busy and narrow with lots of cars trying to pass each other while trying to avoid the many tourists walking up and down too. Also, large coaches trying to manoeuvre up and down. It's quite chaotic at times. So to sum it up, if you don't mind crowds and heat, visit in high season, if you hate crowds and heat then visit in low season. Whichever you prefer, this place is definitely...
Read moreA lovely place to visit out of season experience the beautiful water falls & blue pools. We visited during April 2019, just before Easter, so it wasn't really warm enough to bathe. There were a number of people, like us just walking & exploring, whilst a few were sun-bathing & even less attempting the water which is apparently around 18 degrees all year round. There are plenty of places to sit, either on the rocks, or stone walls & seats, whilst there is lots of shade too under the numerous trees. The clear blue ponds, the 'tolls' vary in size & depth, with wide shallow areas furthest away from the entrance.
I imagine this attraction becomes very busy in peak season. The whole area is rocky with many steps & staircases in wood, metal & also concreted into the rocks so visitors do need to be mobile. It's not suitable for wheelchairs & parents would struggle with a puhchair. Dogs, smoking & food are not allowed in the Fonts park, but outside of the falls entrance, there were numerous cafes & restaurants, some with swimming pools of their own, but with inflated prices for food & drink. There's a pic-nic area further along the road from the falls main entrance, Arboretum, camping ground & Dino-Park.
As you approach the falls, there are many areas to park at around €3, but some would necessitate a short walk to the falls, but we were able to drive right-up to & park in the very closest car park. If you can, don't accept the first offer of parking, but see how far you can drive closer to the entrance.
Cost: €4 adult price (€2 for children & free for under 3-year olds) was well worth it, even just to view the river & beautiful...
Read moreWent yesterday 13.08.24. A family of 5, all adults and all physically capable.
Arrived early 9.30am, after reading reviews! Good choice, as this meant we got access to all the waterfalls, pools and ravins without too much fuss! Did become busy, but even then we still managed to access everything that this natural beauty had to offer.
Water is cold, so be prepared! But the brilliant 🌞 soon dried and warmed us up. An old pair of trainers or crocs I would say is a must, rocky underfoot. We jumped in pools of clear mountain water, showered in magical waterfalls, swam through narrow ravins, navigate the tricky river beds and rocky outcrops... Just majic!
Note No food allowed once you enter into the natural park. Security check bags!
We never ate at the restaurants/café (had breakfast before and had sandwiches/baguettes in the car), but there seemed to be a fair choice of foods. Bought crisps and juice (price same as anywhere else) We also left at 2ish, meaning we missed the worst of the traffic chaos at closing time😁. Police also present upon leaving, so stick yer seat belts on😉.
Roads once up in the hills are a little tricky! Narrow, with a few inch drop off when the tarmac ends, so easy does it!
Staff at the falls were cool! We had no issues, even though we are broad Glasgow🏴, with limited Spanish 🇪🇸.
All in all, well worth 20odd euro's for parking, entry and a cracken few hours (4ish in total) in this natural beauty...
