We had an amazing experience at Bodega Casa de Barca. In addition to being educated on the history and culture of family owned harvesting we were greeted like family by Aida and her father. We felt so much at home away from being home. Having gone to many wineries across the world ( Italy, France, Spain , Australia, Napa Valley) this was truly a unique and my best experience. The entire process is run by grandparents, parents and 2 daughters and the integrity, love and care, and perfection in caring for Mother Nature is embedded in the wine they produce. The family treats all visitors as family and have no charge for the tour while other wineries in the same city charged at least 18 euros to 50 euros per person. I would also recommend they increase the price per bottle to make it market relevant. It is a very demanding and labor intensive year long process and hard to stay in existence. I would also highly recommend that the family consider adding a fee to tour and increase the price of what they charge to reflect the market value of the quality of product and service. Also please consider adding a donation box. I tried to pay extra and put a donation but the family refused. Please consider my recommendations as I would like future generations to experience what I did. Muchas Gracias...
Read moreThis place and its owners touched my heart. From the moment we entered, we felt the warmth of the place. It is a beautiful small family owned winery, as far from industrial as can be. Yet it has modern machinery. You feel like each bottle contains the heart and soul of this family. From the first email to Isabel to the guided visit with her daughter Aida to meeting Aida's father who treated us like special guests visiting his home. It is by far the best visit to a winery I have ever had. Do not expect to see a big production assembly line or a tasting room with several varities to try. There is one variety and it is delicious. The place is charming, the owners warmth and hard work shines. This visit was very valuable and they do it without charge. Please Isabel you should charge for this or at least put a box for donations. You deserve it more than any winery I have been to. Thank you for an incredible...
Read moreWonderful experience visiting a small family run winery in Rias Baixas region, just outside of Cambados. He interrupted his lunch to give us a tour and tasting of their wonderful Albarino (the only wine they make, I believe). The wine production was behind the unassuming house, in a really old house which was purchased by the wine maker's grand-parents-in-law many years ago. After the quick tour, he showed us where he cooked his fish (open fire stove), then provided us with some snacks to have with our wine tasting (bread, olive oil and Jamon carved right there). This was because he insisted that this was a food wine...and he was right! Highly recommended, but probably call and make a reservation first, as we all don't want to interrupt his lunch...
