La Rahige — Attraction in Canillas de Aceituno

Majestic hiking trail.

Difficulty - relatively easy approximate 1hr. Path follows along the gorge cliff and is relatively level with minor inclines.

Scenery - simply spectacular. The elevated position ensures majestic views of the gorge and the surrounding valleys all the way to the Mediterranean sea. Five stars.

Suitability - the path does run along the edge of a cliff. It's probably not suitable for hikers adverse to heights or young children or dogs as there isn't any safety guards along much of the path. The path is quite narrow in places with a steep fall off on one side.

There is little protection from the sun. The altitude means the air is thinner and it's feels very warm/hot. Bring water and sun screen during the summer months.

Location - it's quite difficult to find the start of the trail. There does seem to be two options. Either walking from the nearby town Canillas de Aceituno or continuing driving pass the town for another 2km until you see a dirt road to the left whilst driving east. It has a blue EU sign referring to a aqua/water construction. If you follow this road it will take you directly to the start of the hike. However the road isn't well maintained with gullies and severe erosion. Only attempt in a suitable vehicle. Alternatively park at the turning and walk up. It's a bit of an incline and will probably take another 30-45 mins to reach the start of the route.

This trail to the hanging bridge requires you to walk with your feet in the water. I actually turned around. Also only 3 cars can park where it starts. Road in bad condition / Requiere caminar con los...

Hay un cartel que pone "Área recreativa La Rahige" pero es solo un pequeño ensanchamiento de la carretera en el que no caben más de cuatro coches. Ni un merendero, ni unos bancos, nada... Se ve un par de senderos que si los coges no te llevan a ninguna parte... uno de ellos, después de una subida bastante pronunciada y andar un tramo estrecho y algo peligroso, te lleva a una minipoza de agua (dejo un par de fotos de ella) De hecho, en el propio ayuntamiento ya te recomiendan no hacer ninguna ruta desde La Rahige porque es peligrosa, luego... ¿qué se puede hacer en esa área recreativa? Totalmente...
