I read a lot about this destination and was almost deterred by some of the scary comments. I am most grateful I wasn't, as it was spectacular. To set the record straight: the road to the overlook is indeed poorly maintained and filled with potholes, but can certainly be navigated in any car if you drive slowly and stay alert. Also, the walk to the Ermitas (which was one of the highlights of my two weeks in Spain), should not deter anyone who doesn't have substantial mobility issues. The path is wide, and while the terrain is a bit uneven and rocky, there is no scrambling involved and the elevation change is gradual. Read moreA Place of Peace, History, and Stunning Views Visiting the Church and former Monastery of San Frutos was one of the highlights of my trip to the Hoces del Río Duratón Natural Park. Perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Duratón River, this historic site offers not only breathtaking views but also a deep sense of peace and spirituality. The walk to the hermitage is pleasant and scenic, with panoramic vistas along the way. Once you arrive, the remains of the old monastery and the small Romanesque church, still standing strong, evoke a profound connection to the past. Highly recommended for hikers, history lovers, photographers, or anyone looking to escape the noise of everyday life. Don't forget your camera, the views from the edge are...
Read moreVery beautiful nature and the Ermita located beautiful in the middle. Had found it randomly online prior to coming to spain and considered to drop it on the day to do other stuff as we had not heard much except that random source. Glad we did not. The river(lake) looked like the famous horseshoe bend but we could walk around all by our self. Like we only saw one other group coming down when we walked back to the parking lot. around 11 am on a friday. One of the best places we visited in spain. Also the road is gravel but in great condition and we did think "Man we are far out in the spanish countryside" when driving here. But is was easily accesible from our rout from...
