Torre de Sande — Attraction in Cartelle

The Tower of Sande stand on a rocky hill 506 metres above sea level and dominates the local landscape. What remains of the historic castle is the tower walls which have been largely left fenced off with difficult access to get close. The Reza family currently own it but no agreement has been reached for its restoration. The origin of the Castle date back to the 12th Century. It was damaged during the Irmandiños revolt in the 15th century. In the 19th Century it was occupied by an arab family before being abandoned. Llegar hasta los pies de la torre puede ser complicado. El camino es estrecho y poco visible. Sin marcar. La última parte hay que roquear obligatoriamente. Desde abajo se ve muy bien pero desde lejos, al subir se aprecian detalles y su buen estado de conservación, que debe ser mas por fortuna, que por cuidados del hombre.
