The experience with Juan and Anouk at Crestellina surpassed our expectations by far. From the beautiful setting with the rooster crest shape hill (hence the name “Crestellina”) as backdrop, to the warmth and attention to detail of Juan and Anouk, every moment of our experience was marvelous. Anouk and Juan began by introducing themselves and telling us about Juan's family history (this farm has been in the same family for nearly 100 years) and the hard work they do daily to become sustainable and to preserve the land and the tradition for future generations. We were then showed the fresh goat milk that was to become our cheese shortly after and explained how. Seeing the goats was next. Their pure breed payoya goats, an Andalusian autochthonous breed, were calmly waiting in the stable to be let out to roam freely on the hillside. We were introduced to this breed, met a few of the goats including newly born kids (cabritas and cabritos), and had the opportunity to see how goats are milked manually and also using a machine. Those who wished could milk the goat. After spending time with the goats, we returned to our cheese making workshop and learned a thing or two about making fresh goat cheese. Interesting and relaxing! And… we got to take home our own cheese! Lastly, we enjoyed a delightful tasting of their cheeses, paired with local jams and Juan’s favorite wine from Serranía de Ronda. By the end of the tour, we felt like Juan and Anouk were old friends and we were enjoying time in their company at their farm. We plan to go back and bring our kids, as this activity is very kid friendly. Juan loves to teach the young generations about his trade and lifestyle. They do it for schools frequently. Thank you guys for a delightful 3 hours and some amazing cheese!

Read moreThis was the most fabulous experience ever! It was truly unforgettable to interact with this family of cheese makers. Cristina gave us an outstanding tour and we were able to interact with Juan, the other Juan (ha) who is a champion sling shot btw, his sister Ana and their mother throughout the different stages of milking the animals, mixing, prepping, molding, and finally not just tasting our delicious take home cheeses but also tasting their prized cured cheeses and local wine, yogurts etc.
Our entire family learned so much and absolutely loved interacting with the animals in this beautiful region.
We would definitely return if we have the...
Read moreWe had the best time today at Crestellina in Casares ( Spain) , learning how to make cheese the traditional way with Juan Ocaña. He’s so passionate, knowledgeable, and truly dedicated to farm-to-table living and sustainability.
We got to milk goats (such a unique experience!) and make our own fresh goat cheese by hand. My 11-year-old nephew was the only kid in the group, and Juan made sure he felt included every step of the way—which was so thoughtful.
It was fun, hands-on, and unforgettable. Highly recommend this experience, whether you go with family or...
