A Priorat adventure...and it is worth it! After you leave the main road you travel for about 4 km on a narrow dirt road through various vineyards. You almost feel like you may be on the wrong road but our instructions from the winery were very clear...and google maps is useless in this area. The charming young woman whom we arranged our tour with, Laura Llavet, met us at the modest sized yellow-colored winery. What a terrific person she is: multi-lingual, outgoing and very knowledgeable of the wines and terrior of Clos Galena. We walked the vineyards while receiving an excellent explanation of the soil, grape varietals and micro-climate of this winery, we had a full tour of the winery itself and then sat down to taste several of the wines of Clos Galena. Priorat is best known for its red wines but don't overlook the whites as you will be greatly surprised as to their excellent quality. As a native San Franciscan who started visiting the wineries in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys in the 1970s, this winery reminds me of some of the smaller wineries (back then) like Caymus, Diamond Creek and Joseph Swan: a bit rustic ( in a very good way!) with people working at the winery who are deeply passionate and committed to their craft. Visiting this winery was one of the highlights of our visit to Spain this year. Bravo, Clos Galena and thank you, Laura Llavet!

It was quite an adventure navigating to Clos Galena, but the journey was so worth it! This is a small winery with amazing views and a good story. Definitely our best and most enjoyable wine tasting and winery visit in Priorat. Marta was our host and she was absolutely wonderful! She is very passionate about her knowledge and experience, which really showed in her detailed descriptions of the wines and history of Clos Galena and the Priorat region as well. We tasted several wines, which were all very good. The wine tasting and visit is priced at 20 euros per person. Delicious wines and warm hospitality. Clos Galena is definitely worth a visit!

Wonderful experience in the Spain wine area in Catalonia. Our hosts were gracious and attentive, were able to accommodate a 20+ group. The food easy fantastic, their wine, top quality. Great tour of the vineyard.

We've been with a group of 25 people, families and friends. We had a private tour into the vineyards, dedicated wine tasting, we ate the best calçots (typical catalan food) i ever eat in my life and we were full time together with the founder. Merche, a fantastic and inspirational woman who work hard to lead and drive Clos Galena. Her project now is recognized over the world. I totally recommend a visit, absolutely worth it. Thanks clos galena...looking forward to have a glass of your wine - formigues de...
