Llobregat Delta — Attraction in el Prat de Llobregat

This U shaped Nature Preserve ( no entrance fee) around the Barcelona Airport is a wonderful place to visit, especially if you are a birder. The north side is scrub land and void of facilities making a vehicle a necessity. We explored the south arm which is both wooded and marsh with well maintained trails. All the ground blinds are strategically placed to provide good viewing and some protect you from the elements. The birds are plentiful and not bothered at all by the low flying planes. Washrooms, maps, picnic tables and even a shelter are available for use. The staff is very friendly and helpful and are located in a small booth at the picnic area, near a large parking lot. Our taxi ride from the city was a well spent 30 uros. A taxi back can be found about 1 kilometer back down the road at the waiting area for those servicing the airport or you can phone for one as we did with the assistance of one of the staff. We would like to personally thank the staff who were so caring and helpful to us. We are birders from Canada and it was our first trip out of North America. ¡Fotógrafos, mucho cuidado con los espacios naturales del delta del Llobregat! Entre ellos El Remolar-Filipinas y Cal Tet. Soy aficionado a la fotografía y el pasado 28 de marzo, una mafia organizada me siguió desde el aparcamiento del Remolar-Filipinas para robarme la mochila en la que llevaba mi equipo fotográfico valorado en más de 5500 euros. Después del robo me enteré de que hay varias mafias que se esperan en el aparcamiento y te siguen aprovechando el más mínimo descuido para robarte la mochila. Hay gente a la que han robado estando dentro de los coches parados en semáforos. A otros compañeros los han seguido hasta su casa entrando dentro del aparcamiento... Han robado a compañeros siguiendolos por todo el Baix Llobregat. A un compañero le robaron cuando paró a comprar el pan en Sant Cugat del Vallés... Y lo realmente alucinante es que hace ya muchos años que sucede lo mismo y ni los Mossos ni el Consorci del Delta del Llobregat, teniendo constancia de lo que sucede, hacen nada para evitar que siga pasando. ¿Qué les costaría poner carteles informativos en los parkings avisando de que hay mafias que te siguen y te roban al menor descuido? Ya no digo poner cámaras de seguridad, acceso al parking con una barrera automática con lectura de matrícula, un guardia de seguridad en el parking del Remolar y otro en Cal Tet ¡Qué sería lo mínimo! ¡Es vergonzoso que no pongan ninguna solución y dejen que estas mafias sigan robando...

Fantastic resource/green lung for city close to Airport, river and sea. Perfect place to watch the birdlife with wading birds like flamencos, herons,geese, ducks, coots, seagulls as well as local species and migratory birds. You can also wonder amongst the park next to river and salty marshes towards the sea a wide expanse of flat waterside paths. Best time to visit I would say would be in Spring if you want to spot the birdlife but perfect for a stroll...
