It was significantly colder up there than we expected. If you get cold easily, you should wrap up warmly, even a scarf/hat wouldn't be a bad idea. It was 13 degrees when we climbed.
Even gloves with grip wouldn't be impractical...
Now to Forestal Park, we received a very friendly welcome from the friendly team, we immediately felt comfortable and in good hands.
After a short briefing including a test route under supervision and tips, we set off on our own. (However, there was ALWAYS someone from the team within sight to provide any assistance or even admonition for those who were doing nonsense)
I have a fear of heights (which I'm overcoming little by little) and I have to say the system (a running rail, so to speak, where you are ALWAYS secured) that was used here for climbing gave me a lot of security. I mastered all the courses except the black one. :D
It was also great that each course ended with a zip line and then at the end you stood in front of the next course, very clear.
Unfortunately, some of the courses were closed due to the recent forest fires in Tenerife. (There was a reduced price as a result) The traces of the forest fires were still clearly visible on the outward journey and also on the edge of the site. ;(
In any case, it was a successful day, full of fun and adventure that I wouldn't want to miss on our family vacation!
Thank you for...
Read moreIt's a lovely treetop park as all the parks of this type. But compared to other similar parks we've visited there are a few a bit annoying moments. 1. The price is fixed , then you may find out that you are not fit or brave enough for some of the circuits. Whereas in many other parks like this you choose and pay for certain circuits of certain level. Plus it causes another problem. Some people, usually it's a group of adults who never really did it before decide to start with the harder trials, because the easier ones are full of families with kids. So then you can potentially get stuck behind someone moving at a very slow speed as they are really below their level. 2. You get all the instructions and safety rules and have to do a trial run with the instructor supervising you. Even if you come there every weekend. And the instructors often think it's best to let a big family with a few little kids go first. So then you are all wasting time. it's not a very correct approach . So although I enjoy climbing there , it's not very well organized. And they have a limited amount of persons who can book a certain time slot but because it's a general access to all the trails there's always a risk of having 90% of the climbers in the same circuits. Which can really affect...
Read moreWe came as 2 adults with our very adventurous 6 year old daughter. She was able to do quite a few of the routes (not the most advanced ones due to height restrictions) and we easily kept busy our full 3 hours. There was occasionally a wait to start a course, but we would just do another one, so we didn't really wait much. We did one of the routes twice. The instructional time was mostly in spanish, they had some people that spoke a little english. We had done this sort of thing before so didn't need much help. There were a ton of ziplines, some were super long. We all had a great time. The landing pad for the ziplines was just a pile of dead pine needles- if you didn't land exactly right (heading straight ahead with feet running), you would fall down in a cloud of dust and it was not super comfortable. We got better at it each time and by the end were all consistently landing well. They had some snacks for purchase, but we didn't try them since we brought a packed lunch. There were picnic tables available. It was nice and shady and part way up the mountain, so...
