A Drive Through Nature’s Masterpiece

Nus de sa Corbata, the legendary serpentine road in Mallorca, is not merely a drive—it’s a thrilling symphony composed by nature and perfected by human ingenuity. Tucked into the rugged Tramuntana mountains, this masterpiece is an ode to those who love the sensation of the road under their wheels and the breathtaking views that accompany it.

The Driving Experience

Imagine yourself weaving through hairpin turns so sharp they seem to defy physics, with cliffs towering above and plunging valleys below. Each twist and turn of the road feels like a new act in an exhilarating drama. The engineering marvel of the “Tie Knot” bend itself—a sharp loop where the road seems to tie into itself—is a moment that will leave you in awe of human ingenuity and determination.

The narrow lanes and tight corners demand focus, but they reward you with sweeping views of Mallorca’s rugged beauty. The changing light plays across the cliffs and olive groves, making every moment a postcard-perfect memory. For those who love the art of driving, Nus de sa Corbata offers the purest form of engagement—a perfect harmony between machine, road, and driver.

A Must-Do for Driving Enthusiasts

For those who crave adventure, make it your mission to stop at the Mirador des Barques. Park your car, take a deep breath, and marvel at the panoramic view of the Mediterranean stretching endlessly before you. The drive down to Sa Calobra beach is another unmissable experience; the road descends in dramatic loops that will test your skills but leave you breathless with its beauty. Once at Sa Calobra, relax by the turquoise waters or take a calming stroll through the Torrent de Pareis gorge—nature’s perfect antidote to the adrenaline rush.

A Word of Caution

This drive is not for the faint-hearted. The road is narrow, often with sheer drops and minimal guardrails. Local drivers and cyclists know the terrain well and can appear unexpectedly, so vigilance is key. Those with a fear of heights or unsteady nerves might find the experience overwhelming. The challenge of Nus de sa Corbata lies in its unpredictability—be ready for sudden blind corners and oncoming vehicles that seem to materialize out of nowhere.

Final Verdict

Nus de sa Corbata is not just a road; it’s an adventure that demands respect, focus, and a sense of wonder. It’s an experience tailor-made for those who see driving as more than a means of transport—it’s a dance with the landscape, a chance to feel truly alive. For the daring, it’s a must. But for those hesitant behind the wheel, perhaps it’s best appreciated from the passenger seat—or not at all. Either way, Nus de sa Corbata will leave its mark...

IGNORE the reviews explaining its the scariest drive ever & you must be an "experienced driver".

If your a confident driver with common sense you'll be fine, just don't drive like an idiot and manage your speed throughout the journey.

At times you'll likely come across buses & just make sure you allow them enough room to get through. Most of the bus drivers are experienced and will help you if you get stuck in those positions not knowing whether to go or give them space etc...

It's very common sense driving & as long as your a confident driver you'll be fine. A lot of reviews on here make it sound way scarier than it actually is! Even I was nervous after reading most of the reviews & then after doing it I realised how easy it was.

P.S if your looking to come back down the mountain you'll need to turn around and drive back down the way you came. If you follow the route it'll take you to the Port with the beach. So if you want to travel to Soller/ Pollenca after etc make sure you go down the way you came otherwise you'll drive down to the Port & come back up...

This viewpoint is a must-stop for its breathtaking views. Located conveniently on the road to Sa, it offers a perfect place to pull over and take in the stunning surroundings. The entire route is scenic, filled with beautiful vistas and numerous hairpin turns. However, drivers should stay alert as the road is narrow and frequented by cyclists and cars. Buses also travel this route, making it challenging to pass them. The area has a high exposure, so it's not suitable for those with a fear of heights. The steep inclines were a bit challenging for our Fiat 500, requiring some effort to climb. This road is best suited for experienced drivers. Overall, the views are worth the drive, and I highly recommend...
