El oorigen se encuentra en la torre centinela realizada durante el dominio almohade (en el siglo XII), habiendo sido un importante punto ubicado en el camino de las torres del Valle del Palancia en la carretera Sagunto-Jérica.

La torre del homenaje tenía cuatro niveles: el nivel inferior se utilizaba para almacenar el agua de lluvia, el segundo nivel conserva todavía hoy la estructura almohade y el tercer y cuarto nivel fue construido en la época cristiana.
