Mirador Narices del Teide (the nostrils of Teide) is the highest point accessible by road from the western coast of Tenerife to the Cañadas plateau. It lies amidst a landscape of cold lava flows at the foot of Pico Viejo, which last erupted in 1798. This remarkable viewpoint offers breathtaking vistas and a unique perspective on the volcanic terrain.

The trail leading to the Mirador de las Narices del Teide takes you through the lava flows ejected by Mount Teide during its last eruption in the Middle Ages. Along the way, you’ll encounter the spectacular 800-meter-wide crater of Pico Viejo and the volcanic vents of Las Narices del Teide, remnants of the 1798 eruption within the Teide National Park. The landscape transitions from volcanic areas to rocky terrain, and as you ascend, you’ll be treated to spectacular views.

If you’re a hiking enthusiast, this trail is a must-visit. It’s generally considered moderately challenging, covering approximately 10.3 kilometers in a circular route near Guía de Isora, Tenerife. The estimated completion time is around 3 hours and 14 minutes. While exploring, you’re unlikely to encounter many other people, making it a serene and rewarding experience. The trail remains open year-round, and its beauty can be appreciated at any time.

So, lace up your hiking boots and embark on this adventure to witness the rugged beauty of the Narices del Teide...

We actually parked here and started exploring the walking treks across the street (late January) It was great because you can climb up the mountains adjacent from Pico Viejo and Teide and receive a great view besides from the street level with a 360 including the ocean... Plus you'll generally have the area more all to yourself. As a starting point for Teide I really wish I had known about this place before we took Montaña Blanca (I like the hardest less traveled routes) since Google map doesn't show that there is also a trekking route from here that passes Pico Viejo that I believe is more stunning visually than Teide. There is also parking that you can't see from Google map (limited but people are generally passing through because it's a viewpoint). Of course you'll need to start very early and bring your headlamp just in case. I suppose you could also stay in the accommodation for the night over the top in the Refugio Altavista (adds roughly 40 min to your trip) if the roundtrip is too much in one day but I think would be nice to do because the. You see the other side and can take your time. Unfortunately, I don't think the lift is an option since it drops you far from your car unless you...

Mirador de Las Narices del Teide is a stunning viewpoint located in the Teide National Park on the island of Tenerife. It offers breathtaking views of the volcanic landscape, including the famous Narices del Teide, which are two vents from the last eruption of the Teide volcano in 1798. The eruption created a dramatic lava flow that shaped the surrounding terrain, making this spot a fascinating place for geology enthusiasts and nature lovers.

The viewpoint is accessible via the TF-38 road and is a popular stop for visitors exploring the park. From here, you can admire the rugged beauty of the Pico Viejo crater and the vast expanse of lava fields that stretch across the landscape. The area is known for its unique rock formations and the contrast between the dark volcanic terrain and the bright blue sky.

Hiking trails around the viewpoint allow visitors to experience the raw beauty of the volcanic environment up close. The location is particularly stunning at sunrise and sunset, when the changing light enhances the dramatic scenery. It is also a great spot for photography, offering panoramic views of Tenerife’s...
