Bodegas Viñátigo — Attraction in La Guancha

This is easily the best wine tour I’ve experienced on the island of Tenerife. The owner, Juan Jesus, is a very passionate winemaker and educator whose knowledge and expertise made the experience all the more authentic and inspirational. I loved learning about the many factors that go into winemaking, the various climates found on the island, and the history of wine trade throughout the Canary Islands. What I found most inspiring was that at Viñátigo, everything is ecological and made by hand with the exception of the machinery used to bottle and label the wines. We visited Viñatigo after booking by email because one of their wine we tried in Garachico restaurant was really nice and it was worth to be there for the tour. There were many things to learn about history of grapes and wine of Tenerife, not just about this winery, from one of the family members of Viñatigo and he speaks good Engligh (I guess there is a chance to be lead the tour by only Spanish speaking staff at times) The tour of every rooms and equipments and very nice wine tasting at the end were all very smooth and pleasant. We bought a magnum bottle of Babosso negro red wine and had it following day. Loved it! Hope to taste it soon in South Korea too. Highly recommended to visit this family run winery...

I visited the winery yesterday and was very lucky to have my personal, private tour, as the other group had cancelled. My guide, Mariana, was amazing! Very friendly with incomparable knowledge about Canary wines. The winery is small but innovative; family run for 4 generations, very well looked after and cosy. Finally, the wines. I was so surprised to be introduced to such incredible aromas and tastes. Again, Mariana made the whole wine tasting experience so much fun. I left with a box o local wines, as they were really good.
