We booked our wine tour with The Bodega Finca Marañuelaon on a whim and couldn't recommend the tour more highly.
Felipe takes you on a highly memorable and personable tour of his boutique family vineyards, sharing his knowledge of traditional Canarian organic viticulture and viniculture practices, and providing authentic insights into the history and operation of his family vineyards, and the broader La Orotava region. We got a detailed look into the life of a wine maker in Tenerife and the changing wine making landscape. No question was too big or small - it was a fascinating learning experience.
Set amongst the foothills with sweeping views, this is the tour for you if you're looking for a highly informative wine tour that is genuine, authentic and interactive. The wines were excellent, full of vibrant and distinctive aroma and flavour, with a charm that matched our host.
We came for the wine and left with so much more. Thanks Felipe - we hope to visit...
Read moreRecently, I visited this wonderful winery and was absolutely delighted! The owner, Felipe, gave me a detailed tour of his farm where he cultivates grapes, papayas, and coffee. It was the first time in my life that I saw coffee being cultivated, and I was very surprised. Then we moved to the cellar, where Felipe explained how they produce wine. Importantly, they do not use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides in the production process - all the wine here is organic and natural. It was very interesting and enjoyable to talk to Felipe, as he really knows a lot about wine and winemaking. He is a very friendly person and most of all, he really loves his craft. I can definitely recommend this winery, you will get a real pleasure not only from wine tasting, which is truly amazing with its unique flavor and volcanic characteristics, but also the...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped here for an impromptu visit (thanks to google). We didn’t know what to expect but what we found was a small family vineyard that takes pride and passion in providing a superior wine. Felipe gave us a tour of the winery and showed us what he was growing (grapes along with another variety of plants). A native to the land, Felipe told us from start to finish how their wine is made as well as the story of their family. He concluded with a wine tasting of his three varieties. All three were delicious and naturally made (which meant no sulfites and no migraines or sneezes for me) :-). We concluded with a purchases of all three bottles and off we went.
It may not look like much on the drive in, but it is a beautiful experience if cyou want something ‘off the beaten path’. Muchas gracias para Felipe...
