So, we left Falset and took a leisurely if windy road to Mas Alta. For wine lovers, I recommend. We were warmly hosted, a short hike up the terraces to see those vines, then to the tasting room. I can only say that it was an amazing tasting, some unexpected treasures were revealed, and made it back in our luggage, old Priorat white, Artigas 2014 and '17, we can't wait, then the reds we ended up with magnums from 80 and 100+ year old vines, Garnacha and Caragnino. All round a privilege to have had the opportunity to be there. Don't hesitate

We were the last tasting /clients of the day when we visited Bodegas Más Alta. It’s an imposing large building set amount the vineyards. Very modern and pretty inside. And great views all around. Our tasting was in formative and fun. We got to taste many wines and compare various vintages. Even got to taste some that hadn’t been labeled yet. We learned about the Priorat area and the wine making process there. We really enjoyed the tasting and purchased multiple bottles that we had shipped home.

Bodegas Mas Alta (antes Vinyes Mas Romaní), es una bodega fundada en 1999, por el matrimonio belga Michel y Christine Vanhoutte. Se enamoraron del paisaje, del entorno, y del terroir. Encontrando un enclave que inmediatamente lo hacen suyo. Más adelante el proyecto fue dirigido por el belga Philippe Lambrecht, gerente de Wijnhandel De Brabandere, empresa fundada en 1870 y especializada en la distribución en su país de grandes vinos (Romanée Conti en Borgoña, Tardieu Laurent en el Ródano, Vega Sicilia en España...). Sus otros socios son industriales belgas. La dirección en la sede de la Vilella Alta la hacen Michel y Christine Vanhoutte. Su objetivo es elaborar vinos de calidad que muestren la autenticidad y terruño del que proceden. La garnacha tinta y la cariñena se convierten en las varietales principales de la bodega, siendo éstas las varietales autóctonas del Priorato. Entre los numerosos vinos de Bodegas Mas Alta, podemos destacar los vinos Artigas, Ciberets, La Basseta y La Creu Alta.

Came by unannounced during harvest time which is as busy as a winery gets in beginning of September. But was greeted by a super friendly and enthusiastic guide, Ivan. He helped guided us through the tasting and let us even taste wines which weren't listed. Also was able to answer every question proficiently and convened his knowledge with great passion. Later we were able to visit the production facility despite it being harvesting time. All in all a superb visit with great wines and great staff. Big thanks to Ivan for this...
