Pinares de Rostrogordo — Attraction in Melilla

Rostrogordo is a plateau at the northern edge of the Spanish city of Melilla, just inside the border with Morocco, and west of the headland of Punta de Rostrogordo. It is located three kilometres to the north of Melilla city centre. In it is located the Rostrogordo Fort (El Fuerte de Rostrogordo) and the Pinares de Rostrogordo, the Periurban Park of Rostrogordo. (Parque Periurbano de Rostrogordo).[1] Rostrogordo is also the site of a sports complex, Parque de Ocio y Deporte El Fuerte.

Great park, really different from the Melilla atmosphere. Well-maintained, but you still will see some trash near the road. Perfect for camping. I was going to stay in a camping nearby, which turned out not to exist, but found this park and spent a good night there. It's surrounded by military establishments so there are police cars going around, so don't expect complete darkness, but overall quiet place and feels safe. I didn't find any facilities, but there were some benches and tables, as well as designated spots...

El pulmón verde de Melilla. Agradable para pasar el día. Hay que darle un repaso, por eso las tres estrellas: a la zona de barbacoas, instalar más, no hace falta que sean grandes, lo justo, para poder hacer unos pinchitos de forma segura. También hacen falta unos baños, al menos dos o tres módulos repartidos por todo el parque, limpios y abiertos al público, al menos hasta el anochecer. Se hecha en falta, igualmente, unas fuentes con agua potable. En fin, que la Ciudad, mejor dicho los políticos de turno, que tiran el dinero, muchas veces en auténticas chorradas inútiles, bien podría invertir en Rostrogordo, pues es un espacio de esparcimiento para la ciudadanía melillense, muy necesario y apreciado, máxime con la frontera cerrada, como tenemos ahora. No estaría de más, en días de mayor afluencia, que una dotación de la Policía Local se "paseara" por la zona de vez en cuando, para evitar posibles situaciones...
